Complete beginner based in HK looking to start a Shopify store—which target market and niche should I start with?
Hi everyone,
I'm completely new to the world of e-commerce and Shopify, and I'm currently based in Hong Kong.
I’m eager to learn the ropes of building an online store, but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the choices when it comes to choosing a target country and a product niche😆
Given my location in HK, I have good access to supply chains (like mainland China suppliers, Taobao, 1688, etc.), but I'm not sure if I should target the US, Europe, local HK/Asia markets, or somewhere else for my first store😢
As a beginner with a limited budget, I would love to get some advice:
Which country/market is the most friendly or realistic for a beginner starting out from Hong Kong?
What kind of product niches are better for a first-timer? (Should I avoid electronics/clothing due to high returns/shipping issues?)
Any major pitfalls I should watch out for regarding logistics, payment gateways, or ad costs?
