Upscaling desktop apps

Has anyone tried to upscale desktop apps and have decent amount of FPS?

I have a 5K (5120x2880) display with Windows 10 scale set up to 225%. Certain older GUI applications are not compatible with High DPI and they do not scale well (especially the text is blurry) - for example older version of Source Filmmaker / Daz Studio / older 3ds Max

I only did recently heard of Lossless Scaling and I decided to give it a try. With LS1 apps scale somewhat reasonably but the framerate is horrible, like 3FPS or something and mouse is stuttering. I have noticed that the framerate goes to normal when moving around GUI elements like buttons etc.

I have tried disabling G-Sync/V-Sync etc but none of the settings seem to make any difference. I know that Lossless Scaling is primarily for games but maybe someone has similar usecase to mine.

Also one thing worth mentioning is that changing the property in 'Change high DPI settings' in 'Compatibility Tab' to 'Application' makes the native rendering of application without scaling it but in my case the GUI is too small on such high resolution.
