If someone does us evil undeserved, that means we have got our karma back from god knows when.

First question: is bad past karma always the cause of such things?

And second, by doing us evil that person helped us burn our bad karma does that mean they actually did _good_? And if so will they get restitution for their deed or not, or will it rather be looked at as not that bad even though they didn't intentionally help us?

If one is on the receiving end of an incredible amount of completely unwarranted hate and insults, and a scapegoat for those who never repent nor think it is unjust and have no plans to apologise, what to do? How to answer that and how to even feel about that? Is that karma coming back at us?

What would be the Buddhist approach?
