Im currently reading East of Eden by John Steinbeck, recently trying to shift from epic fantasy, thrillers, horror etc to more for lack of better words mature literature and trying to read more literary fiction.
Many people suggested Cormac Mccarthy to me and im really looking forward to reading his work but dont know where to start...
could anyone like give me a rough framework of how i should go about reading his work?
ive mostly read epic fantasy and thrillers until now like the stormlight archive, red rising, a song of ice and fire, a few stephen king books recently (the stand, carrie, pet semetary etc) dune, the robert langdon series (though ive read only the first 3 till now) moving on from more popular and beginner friendly titles in the past 1-2 years(im not saying they are bad, i just need to move on to a better level) like maze runner, hunger games, eragon and so on
now i want to get more into literary fiction and for lack of better words more like serious and well written books.
ive started reading east of eden and am really enjoying steinbeck's writing and wanted some more recommendations to help me get into the genre.(i was thinking of reading some cormac mccarthy after finishing east of eden)
also going kinda off topic but ive also been thinking of reading malazan and the first law trilogy but never really got to it
any suggestions?
