The three major Indian Head cent types in MS64

I’m back with some more upgrades to my Dansco 7070. All three of these coins were graded MS64 (the 1903 an MS64 RD), and in my opinion, have outstanding eye appeal. It is really hard to find copper nickel coins with great luster, and both the 1859 and especially the 1861 are killer. There’s a big jump up in price at the 65 level, so I tried to do the best that I could with finding excellent examples at a 64, which took quite a while!

I actually think the 1861 may be a 65 candidate if I were to submit it to PCGS (CACG called it a 64, but they are really tough on type coins). The reverse is particularly stunning with a pastel, sunset-esque toning. I mentioned this on my last post, but when possible, I’m also trying to acquire 1861-dated coins for a full year set within this dansco, bar the $3 gold which has no slot. This is a welcome addition.

Upgraded two basic Silver dollars in the 7070 type set to some exceptionally stunning examples of a Morgan and Peace dollar.

Morgan - 1884 CC NGC DMPL CAC

Peace - 1923 PCGS MS66 CAC

I hope you guys enjoy these pretty awesome dollars! I’ll be posting more frequently about some other upgrades in the coming weeks!

I technically completed my mint state Dansco 7070, about a year ago but I’ve been working on upgrades for several coins that i thought were either not graded accurately, thus meaning they are not actually MS coins, or for coins I want to finish by date set (I’d love to collect a full date set of 1861, and am almost there), find coins with better eye appeal, maybe include some key dates, etc. I’ll be posting some of these upgrades as I get them in in the coming weeks!

This morgan was perfectly notated as a DMPL, it has reflectivity to 10 inches and a total black and white cameo. To get that on an 84 CC (rather than my 81s) is a fun upgrade to the Dansco set. I’ve seen very few 1923 peace dollars with such a full strike and booming luster and completely agree with CAC - this is one of the best of the best. I have a thing for beautiful peace dollars and this is one of my favorites i’ve owned. get that on an 84 CC (rather than my 81s) is a fun upgrade to the Dansco set.
