I'm applying for PhD in Berlin, Any Tips?
Hello there,
I'm applying for PhD opportunities in organic chem and medicinal chem in Berlin, and I'm currently in my research phase trying to understand what it would actually feel like to live there for four years.
I'm living in London right now for my master's and honestly I felt really lonely for multiple months here, and even now I still can't say I'm emotionally attached to the city even though it's genuinely gorgeous.
A bit of context: I'm Iraqi, so I guess I'm used to the Arabic warmth in conversations and social interactions, and I couldn't really find that in London. Recently though, I've been watching and reading a lot about Berlin and it actually seems like a very interesting city to me in terms of its history, international communities, political/artistic atmosphere, and overall personality.
I've never been to Berlin before, but I'm planning to visit in June.
I'd really appreciate any advice or if you could share your experiences with me–especially if you're an international student, Arab, Middle Eastern, or someone who also moved there alone and had to build a life/community from scratch.
Danke!
