  1. Is there any way or trick to book appointment easily, like special day or timings?

  2. Can I book at different appointment centre like my nearby centre is new delhi VFS but can I book Bengaluru or Mumbai?

Hi need help with German public universities process.

So, I visited Leverage Edu and they handed me a package of 2.85 Lakhs that covers all the tests and visa slot expenses and a few other things.

The actual expenses are 1.5 - 1.7 lakhs max for everything.

They're charging approx 1-1.2 lakhs extra.

Now, I need to understand that whether self-applications and all the other process is possible by myself or maybe with a different consultancy?

Any Indian students in Germany? Any advice?

I've seen conflicting information online, many say that consultants are better and many say that process might be confusing.

Studierendenwerk: stuck with a 12-month dorm contract for a 6-month stay.

Hi! I’m an exchange student coming to FAU Nuremberg for one semester (~6 months), but the Studierendenwerk offered me a single apartment with a fixed 12-month contract, and the paperwork says I’d owe rent for the whole period even if I leave early.

I’ve already emailed the WohnService asking whether the contract can be limited to one semester, or what the early-termination options are — but while I wait, I’d love to hear from people who’ve actually been through this:

**1.** Did anyone get a **one-semester contract** as an exchange student?
**2.** If not, was there a fixed penalty for leaving early, or did you really pay all remaining months?
**3.** Is finding a **Nachmieter** a realistic option, or does the Studierendenwerk re-let the room itself?

Any experiences would help a lot — thanks!

UPDATE: They got back to me within 12 hours, said it was no problem at all, and sent me a new 6-month contract for the same room they’d originally offered. Really great service, highly recommend just asking!

Chaos applying to a TU from a Hochschule

This is my first post on reddit ever so bear with me- I'm pretty desperate here.

So I've been living in Germany three years now (I'm from the US), I first completed a Studienkolleg which was unfortunately in English, then I learned C1 German, and as a last-minute way to not get deported, I got into an architecture program at a Hochschule. During this semester I've only participated in half the classes, I'm only doing half the exams, and I've been mostly focusing on learning German to the point of Telc C1 Hochschule and a buncha Aptitude exams for TU applications.

I've always wanted to study architecture and I've heard that TU's are the best schools for this field in particular (most internationally recognized which would help me a lot in the future!). However, because I did technically study architecture for one semester at a Hochschule, I cannot apply for a first semester of this subject again, right? One TU has already rejected me with this reasoning. So tbh now I'm kinda freaking out.

I don't think any credits will transfer over because 1. it's a hochschule that I'm studying at, and 2. my current architecture program is in English. I was looking forward to starting over fresh in Semester 1 at at TU in German, now I think I'll go another year of pushing off this dream. :(

If anyone has any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated! Or if anyone knows good counselors/beratungsservice for international students (besides DAAD). I'm struggling with this process so much.

Affordable but good hair salons in Munich for a long wolf cut / curtain bangs?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations for a good but reasonably priced hair salon in Munich for a pretty specific haircut, and I’m honestly a bit nervous because my hair is very long (below waist), thick, slightly wavy, and frizz-prone.

I haven’t cut it in over 2 years, so the ends are rough and I really want a proper reshape — but I absolutely do not want to lose much length.

I’m planning to get a soft long wolf cut / butterfly-wolf hybrid with:

  • long layers for movement
  • long curtain bangs (starting around nose/lip and blending to chin)
  • face-framing layers
  • no short crown layers / no mullet look

Basically, I want to remove weight and add shape while keeping most of my length.

My main concern is finding a stylist who actually understands:

  • thick hair
  • wavy/frizzy texture
  • layered cuts that don’t turn into triangle hair 😅

Since women’s haircuts for long hair in Munich can get very expensive, I’m looking for places that are ideally not insanely pricey, but still trustworthy enough that I won’t walk out regretting Would love recommendations (or warnings about places to avoid). Thanks!

Considering taking a loan for a second Master's in Robotics in Germany – Looking for advice

Hi everyone,

I'm currently at a crossroads and would appreciate some honest advice from people who have studied or are studying in Germany.

A little about my background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (India)
  • Recently completed a Master's degree in Robotics and Intelligent Autonomous Systems in the United States
  • Internship and project experience in robotics, automation, autonomous systems, and mechanical design
  • Interested in building a long-term career in robotics, automation, and intelligent systems

The situation is that I'm considering pursuing a second Master's degree in Robotics in Germany, mainly because Germany has a strong robotics and manufacturing ecosystem, lower tuition costs compared to the US, and many companies working in industrial automation, autonomous systems, and advanced manufacturing.

However, since I've already completed one Master's degree, I would likely need to take out an education loan to finance living expenses and the blocked account requirements.

My biggest concerns are:

  1. Is pursuing a second Master's in Germany a sensible decision from a career perspective?
  2. How do German universities and employers generally view applicants who already hold a Master's degree from another country?
  3. Would the return on investment justify taking an education loan?
  4. Would it be better to directly apply for robotics jobs in Germany instead of enrolling in another degree program?
  5. How challenging is it for non-EU graduates to secure robotics-related jobs after graduation, especially if they are still improving their German language skills?

I'm trying to make a decision that makes financial and career sense rather than simply collecting another degree.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has:

  • Done a second Master's degree
  • Studied Robotics/Mechatronics/Automation in Germany
  • Taken an education loan for studies abroad
  • Transitioned from the US academic system to Germany

Any insights, success stories, or warnings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Professor created a 20h student position for me, but I want to keep another 8h job too. Need advice.

Hello, not sure if this is the right sub to ask this, but here goes nothing.

I'm a master's student in Germany and recently got offered an 8-hour-per-week student assistant position. The work for this position aligns very closely with my long-term research interests and PhD goals.

But I needed closer to 20 hours of work per week (maximum allowed for a student) to cover my expenses, so I asked my professors about openings. She initially told me there were no openings, but later spoke with the committee and managed to get a 20-hour student assistant position approved for me.

Now I don't want to give up the original 8-hour position. The projects there seem highly appealing to me, the team seems very flexible, and most of the work can be done remotely. It would also start a month earlier than the 20-hour position.

So I asked my professor whether I could work 12 hours in her department and keep the other 8-hour position too. She said she could make that arrangement work, but she would not recommend it because balancing two jobs alongside my studies could become demanding. She emphasized that the decision is ultimately mine.

Now my concern is not so much the workload. I'm worried that choosing the 12+8 arrangement after she put in the effort to create a position for me could come across as ungrateful or as if I don't value her advice.

My questions are:

  1. What would be the practically sounder decision - keeping just 1 job or splitting between the 2?

  2. Am I overthinking the possibility of disappointing the professor?

TL;DR: I found an 8h/week student job that aligns closely with my future academic interests. Later, a professor got a 20h/week position approved for me. She's willing to reduce it to 12h so I can keep both jobs, but she doesn't recommend it. Should I take the full 20h position or keep both opportunities (12+8)?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts!

Need help in universities Deadlines

Heyyy everyone,

I am a student of Computer Science and today itself i got my APS certificate as my result was declared late........And now, while shortlisting public universities i got to know that most of the deadlines are July 15th and most of them accept application through Uni-assist (which means at this point of time i can't apply).

My question to you guys is.......are there any public university whose deadlines are late (so that i get sufficient time for uni-assist process) or accept application through their own university portal w.r.t. to Computer Science or related field for Winter Semester only

As if there are none then I'll have no choice and wait for Summer semester but it's my last preference.
