1st Semester Online = Risk of German Student Visa Rejection? 🇩🇪🎓
I’ve received admission to Automation and Robotics. However, the first semester is taught completely online, and the in-person classes start from the second semester.
My main concern is about the German student visa.
Since I’m applying from India, I’m wondering:
Does having the first semester completely online create any additional risk of visa rejection?
I also have admission to Digital Business Models and Technologies in the same university, which is not my preferred course. So I’m trying to decide whether I should:
Apply for the visa directly with my Automation & Robotics admission, even though Semester 1 is online, or
Take the Digital Business admission for the visa, travel to Germany, and then change to Automation & Robotics after arriving.
If I choose Automation directly, would the online first semester itself be considered a problem for the visa?
And if I enter Germany with Digital Business and later officially change to Automation & Robotics, could the fact that I’m staying in Germany during Automation’s online first semester create any issue with my residence permit? Would I potentially be asked to leave Germany and return for the second semester when the programme becomes on-campus?
I’d especially appreciate answers from Indian students who have gone through the German student visa process, or anyone who has experience with Coburg’s online first semester.
I’m trying to make the safest decision because I don’t want to risk a visa rejection, but at the same time I really want to study Automation & Robotics rather than choose another course just because of the visa situation.
