Hey guys, finally got my visa 🎉 Thought I'd share my timeline since I know a lot of people here are waiting and checking timelines like crazy.

I applied for a student visa through the CSP and here's how it went:

  • 22 July: Submitted my application on CSP
  • 22–23 July: Got a couple of queries and uploaded the corrected documents
  • 23 July: Application was marked complete
  • 6 August: Went for my VFS appointment, submitted everything and gave biometrics
  • 7 August: Got the update that my application was forwarded to the German Consulate
  • 12 August: Got the update that my passport was dispatched
  • 14 August: Passport delivered with the visa! 🎉

So it took me around 8 days from my VFS appointment to getting my passport back.

Honestly, I was expecting it to take at least 2–3 weeks, so I was completely caught off guard when the passport came back this quickly 😂. I was actually stressing quite a lot while waiting because you don't get to see the actual decision on the portal.

Now just need to sort out the remaining stuff and get ready to leave at the end of September.

Hope this helps anyone who's currently waiting. Good luck guys, hope you all get your visas soon! 🇩🇪

If anyone has questions about the CSP/VFS process or the timeline, feel free to ask. I'll answer whatever I can based on my experience.

P.S. - (I know i stole the image but i couldn't help myself lol)

Looking for a widely accepted CV template

I have viewed numerous resources and followed the guidelines, but I keep seeing that some of the stuff in these guides are outdated or unnecessary, such as birthdate and photo. Can someone please, please, please send me a template or some sort of information that is considered widely accepted in Germany. I am pulling my hair out at the contradictions and nuances. For more context, this CV is for a masters program, not a job. Below are the resourses I've used.

Guidance on improving my chances for a public Master’s in Germany

Need guidance on improving my chances for a public Master's in Germany
Hi everyone, I’m trying for a Master's in Germany and really need some guidance on how I can improve my chances of getting into a public university.
My profile:
B.Tech in IT + Minor in Data Science — CGPA 8.06

IELTS 6.5

2 years of experience as a Technical Analyst

A few IT/Data-related projects

Currently learning German and planning to take the exam

I’ve been applying to Germany for two intakes now and have received multiple rejections. I’m trying to understand what I might be missing.
One thing that confuses me is that a friend of mine is from the same college and completed the same B.Tech course as me, so our subjects and credits are very similar. They have a 7.5 CGPA, IELTS 6.0, no German and less experience, but still received admits from around 4 universities, including some of the same universities I applied to. I also have a higher CGPA.
So I’m wondering if ECTS/module matching could still be the issue, and how I can properly check this before applying. Would getting B1/B2 German actually help my chances, and what else should I improve?
My career interests are Cybersecurity, DevOps, Cloud and SAP.
At this point, I’m unsure whether I should keep trying for public universities in Germany for another intake or consider Austria, Scotland/UK or other countries.
If anyone experienced with German admissions could guide me on how to check my ECTS/module compatibility, choose suitable universities and improve my chances, I would really appreciate it.

German visa application and everything

I’m a JMU AI student (Winter 2026/27) and need some advice.
Timeline:
• Aug 6: Received my admission letter
• Aug 18: Submitted my visa documents through the Bengaluru CSP
• Sep 30: JMU enrollment deadline
• Oct 12: Classes start
How long does it usually take to get the visa appointment/invitation in Bengaluru? And if the visa is delayed, what happens to enrollment at JMU?
Any recent experiences would help.

Hi I am a 4th year UG information science Engineering student. I am planning of studying in Germany for October 2027 intake. Is it suggested to use any study abroad agency like Shiksha, upgrad or any? Or is it better to do all the processes by myself?

Genuine enquiry

Hello,
I am currently looking for job opportunities in Germany and europe. But what i am seeing on social media these days is not something related to safe and sound.
Can anyone help me understand the situation in Germany about illegal migration.?
Is it really that bad or is it just social media.?

TU Chemnitz (web engineering)

My application for Web Engineering at TU Chemnitz was forwarded to the university yesterday.

For those who applied to the same program, how long did it take for you to hear back after your application was forwarded?

Do we still have time?

I'm also waiting for my TH OWL decision, so currently waiting on both.

Have a look at SDE jobs data before you plan to study in IT in Germany

SDE Jobs are at an all time low in Germany.

This is something very important that any prospective student must be aware of before planning to move here. I see so many posts here about studying in Germany on student loans and what not.

In the recent times, we have seen so so many cases of student who exhausted their 18 months job seeker visa and still could not find a job.

But this is the reality facing you once the cushion of university is removed. I will post the link to this as well in the comments.

1st Semester Online = Risk of German Student Visa Rejection? 🇩🇪🎓

I’ve received admission to Automation and Robotics. However, the first semester is taught completely online, and the in-person classes start from the second semester.

My main concern is about the German student visa.

Since I’m applying from India, I’m wondering:

Does having the first semester completely online create any additional risk of visa rejection?

I also have admission to Digital Business Models and Technologies in the same university, which is not my preferred course. So I’m trying to decide whether I should:

Apply for the visa directly with my Automation & Robotics admission, even though Semester 1 is online, or

Take the Digital Business admission for the visa, travel to Germany, and then change to Automation & Robotics after arriving.

If I choose Automation directly, would the online first semester itself be considered a problem for the visa?

And if I enter Germany with Digital Business and later officially change to Automation & Robotics, could the fact that I’m staying in Germany during Automation’s online first semester create any issue with my residence permit? Would I potentially be asked to leave Germany and return for the second semester when the programme becomes on-campus?

I’d especially appreciate answers from Indian students who have gone through the German student visa process, or anyone who has experience with Coburg’s online first semester.

I’m trying to make the safest decision because I don’t want to risk a visa rejection, but at the same time I really want to study Automation & Robotics rather than choose another course just because of the visa situation.

[YSK] A study visa for Germany from India is issued very fast relative to most other countries. Waiting for a couple of months is standard. Please stop fearmongering.

The waiting period displayed on Consular Services Portal (CSP) is almost never the actual waiting period. So if it shows a waiting period of more than a year, that does NOT mean you will only get a study visa for Germany a year later. This is, of course, specific to India.

Cases with undue delays are related to admissions in private universities, or universities which don't require physical attendance in Germany. Therefore, if you're targetting admission in such a programme for whatever reason (which is not the point of this post), expect the visa process to take much longer.

What you should not do is wait for a couple of weeks and then panic because CSP or VFS isn't updating you every single day.

You should not spam every subreddit asking for visa timelines from Indian VFS centres, and why a visa application you submitted yesterday still hasn't been processed.

You should also realise that delays due to document errors are the applicant's responsibility. This ranges from mismatch in passport numbers, in admission letters, English certificates, etc.

You should also not trust people who love to fearmonger on the internet about extremely slow visa processing timelines.

You should also remember that people who claim to have received their visas within 7 days are the exception, not the rule.

You should also remind yourself that just because person X attended an appointment on the same day as you and has already received their visa, but you haven't, that alone does not mean something has "gone wrong" with your application.

Please plan your visa process with at least 2 to 3 months for India, which is standard and not your relevant German mission taking "too much time".

A visa is an important piece and sensitive piece of documentation that the German mission needs to put in their due diligence towards before issuing. As such, 2 to 3 months is a very reasonable speed to operate in for India, whose education and certification system is so different.

Admission Process for Uni Passau (Msc. AI Engineering & CS)

This question is specifically for the Masters program in AI Engineering and maybe CS at University of Passau.

From what i have seen on reddit, people who have got admission for these programs tend to have given an interview (in most or all of the cases).

But during the application I found out that they had not mentioned about interviews on their website.

So is it that the internal requirements have changed? Due to a large number of applicants? And if that's the case, is it safe to assume that people (including me) who are waiting from around 2+ months without any interview, are gonna get rejected.
