[Online] [Other] [18+] Playing as many heroes over the history of a fantasy world, shape the story of a civilization across passing ages.
Ever since I started gaming, I’ve wanted be part of a campaign where players get to create the world by living in it, and lasting over a long enough time span that you get to experience the long term fruit of your actions. After years of tinkering with the mechanics, I think I can make that happen. You might hatch a dragon egg as one character, then, centuries later, visit a city ruled by riders of domesticated dragons descended from your hatchling. The troubled orphan who you take on as your sorcerer apprentice might become the dark lord that your next character has to slay.
Each player customizes their own civilization using a sheet I will send to them, and gets to draw a section of the world map in which that civilization inhabits. At the start of each session, you will get the chance to briefly determine the actions of your civilization within a particular era, and, from then on, play as a hero during a turning point in that era.
Aa a GM, I am a huge lover of unconventional and chaotic solutions from my players. The beauty of TTRPG’s is to stumble on a story I never could have seen coming, not to follow any particular formula. The flip side of that freedom to explore whatever happens is that I am also unlikely to hand wave bad consequences for the sake of convenience. In past campaigns, I’ve allowed players to kill the big bad without ever fighting while also doing nothing to prevent PC’s from dying permanently when that is what the situation led to.
We will play using the voice chat on Discord. I have a dice rolling program that’s worked well for me in past campaigns, but I’m open to suggestions on that front. Please tell me your availability and I will try to find a good time for everyone to play, possibly splitting people into multiple campaigns.
