Mira

I love to write stories for children and this one is about a sweet little mermaid who takes cares of the narwhals. I thought maybe yall might like it

Mira of the Icebound Sea”

In the deepest folds of the Northern Oceans, where icebergs drift like mountains and the sea hums with ancient cold, there lives a mermaid unlike any sung of in sailor songs.

Her name is Mira.

She is not the sleek, glittering mermaid of tropical tales. Mira is soft and strong, wrapped in a thick layer of blubber like the seals she swims beside. Her scales shimmer not in rainbow pastels, but in hues of silver, slate, and deep indigo, like the Antarctic sky before a snowstorm.

Mira lives among the cracks and caves beneath the ice shelves, her tail powerful and wide, built for long, slow glides through freezing waters. Her hair is tangled with kelp strands, and she wears a necklace made of smooth sea glass and old whalebone.

But it is not the ice, or the sea, or even the silence that keeps her here.

It’s the narwhals.

Every spring, when the ice breaks enough for them to pass, the narwhals return. Their strange spiral tusks glint under the twilight sun, and they trill out songs that bounce through the water like bubbles. Mira has cared for them since she was young—watching the calves, healing the old, keeping orcas and entangling nets away.

She knows them all by name: Tollik, the largest bull, whose tusk is chipped from a fight; Neela, who swims upside-down when she's happy; Pip, the runt with the crooked tail who clings to Mira like a sibling.

She sings to them, low and slow, in a language made of currents and clicks. When the ice storms roll in and the sea rages black, Mira wraps her arms around the youngest narwhals and shelters them in underwater ice dens, warming them with her own body heat.

In return, the narwhals bring her gifts: driftwood carved by the sea, glowing jellyfish, and once, a bell from a lost shipwreck. They surround her when she sleeps, like a living wall, keeping sharks and cold dreams at bay.

No one knows Mira lives there. The world above calls the Antarctic waters barren, empty. But below, in the quiet kingdom of ice and song, a chunky mermaid hums lullabies to a pod of sea unicorns, her heart warmer than any

Had a tiny hard bump on my cheek and it hurt so much for how small it looked but then this popped out and now I have a teeny tiny hole on my cheek
