[ENTRY-LEVEL] Hobbyist Looking for Understated Video Essay Editing for Gaming
Hey there:
I'm a hobbyist video essayist with a budding interest in the sphere. I made a small video essay to show some professors of mine that I didn't intend for public consumption that ended up getting 26k views, and it's given me a taste to share my investigations and interests with the world.
I'm looking for an editor for video essays with a passion for environmental storytelling and narrative in video games - please understand what that means, and if you're unsure, you're welcome to ask me to clarify, but never pretend with me.
I'm not looking for highly fancy, over-the-top editing or big, pretty transitions. I'm mostly looking for someone who can splice clips together in a way that's pleasant to the eye and reinforces my scripts. The intent of these videos isn't to be formal-business-professional, but I'm not swinging to be making millions of dollars off of youtube - I'm here for fun, and the thing I'm going to be looking for most is an editor who creatively understands and challenges me, matches my passion, and isn't obsequious. I don't just want an editor - I want a creative partner with skills that compliment mine.
I'm looking for an editor who has played Undertale and Deltarune at the moment. Bonus points if you've also played any or all of Project Moon's works - we may be working together even more in the future.
I have two potential small scripts lined up, as well as a much larger, written script. I intend to trial a given editor with the small scripts, see if we work together well, before giving you the big script.
For the small videos, I will pay a minimum flat rate [$40] each. The following entitles you to a negotiable bonus;
- If you are able to source most supporting clips/images beyond the ones I specifically link in the script in a way that makes sense and serves the script, and I don't find myself forced to go and find source videos or record myself for elements of the script the game text supports.
- If you are able to edit subtitling in an immersive font (the game's) with a pace that is readable and doesn't result in me having to narrate the video, which I can (but don't want) to do.
- If you are able to critically think and analyze the script and discuss/suggest edits that actively improve the content.
If you succeed at the small videos and I'm actively happy and excited, I will give you the long script. For the long video, I will pay a minimum flat rate of [$120]. As above, if you make this comfortable/easy for me and improve the product beyond my own editing abilities, there will also be negotiable bonuses.
I'll be doing the thumbnails myself, so you don't need to worry about that (but you can provide your feedback if you like).
Thank you. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Bonus points if you submit a specific video you've edited that you believe will gel well stylistically, or even a video that isn't yours you're thinking of emulating.
In Summary: Trial Runs, Then Big Project.
Total Minimum Pay (Assuming Trials Succeed): (200$ FLAT)
