Hello people of r/resumes, I am here asking for advice and feedback on my resume. I was recently laid off and have been frantically and desperately applying for jobs, but have had no luck so far. The only interview requests I had back were to become a sales trainee and a company that was looking for college volunteers but somehow called me for an interview.

The challenges so far are that I have no idea how to market myself in a way that would explain that a lot of my skills are transferable and adaptive, and while some of my roles were short, they had an impact that I could back up through my portfolio showcases. And after searching for a job for the past month, I am starting to feel that my experience in general is not valued whatsoever. And narrative design/narrative writing jobs here are rare, so I need to pivot somewhere, and based on my skills, I feel like I could go into advertising/marketing.

And despite the title, I am also open to remote or overseas opportunities that'd have me relocate. It's just, same as above, I do not know how to make myself stand out.

A few questions I wanted to ask:

  1. Should I optimize my resume for each job listing or for the broader categories that exist? What I have been doing is trying to identify the keywords in each job listing, aligning my summary with the company profile/mission (if I can find it), but so far, no luck.
  2. Should I exclude some of the jobs I have when I am applying, or put certain positions at the very top instead of listing them chronologically?
  3. Do my bullet points lack impact? Should I go further into detail? I feel like I am already pushing it with 3 pages.

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks!
