"An Australian Phantom Pain" or: How MGSV and DS2 loose interest in their setting real quick

Now the similarities between MGSV and DS2 aren't subtle. From UI, Gameplay, Handling, Cinematography and Themes the Games have a lot in common (and thats completely fine and normal)

But one thing bugged me in DS2 the same way it did in MGSV ten years ago. Back then I was kinda disappointed that the historical setting of 1980s was very surface level. Yes you have the Soviet-Afghan War Background, kinda authentic Kit and the soundtrack. But then the Game brushes over this setting with a lot of anachronisms and ideas. Thats fine since MGS isnt really about historical accuracies but it just robbed the game of some flavour (See Back Ops Cold War for stylish 80s spy action OR MGS3 even though its anachronistic as hell but still keeps a consistent atmosphere)

And then they did it again with Australia in DS2. Yes there's the Map, some characters, some accents, some codex entries, some animals. And I get that it isn't about the Australia we know but the post DS version of it. But still, once you reach the Northern Biome it feels like the creative vision gets really muddled. Australia feels less like a setting thats intertwined with the game and more like background dressing that pops up in the form of a boomerang or a SSS post.

It fits the Kojima Game theme of: "Use the first paragraph of a Wikipedia Article loose attention and click on random article" And thats what i love about these stories but sometimes this approach hurts the overall vision. Sometimes the games feel more focused in their world building (like MGS3 or DS1). Sometimes they feel like a lot more inconsistent.

Tldr: Both great games but they dont take full advantage of their respective settings

Policenauts is ridiculous

So I just finished the game. I honestly thought the boob fondling was funny at first and it didn’t bother me. UNTIL I got to the part where Karen comes on to you, then you can fondle her boobs in the dark a little later. I thought this was weird cause it’s your x wife’s daughter. And then of course at the very end it turns out that Karen is your daughter. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK KOJIMA. Your daughter comes onto you then you fondle her boobs without consent. Written and directed by hideo Kojima. This kind of spoiled the entire game for me and now I think Kojima is a total sexual deviant.

Kojima actually never asked Yoji Shinkawa to join his new studio. Shinkawa says, "It just happened naturally. I had absolutely no anxiety about it."

Interviewer:
Shinkawa-san, you are one of the founding members of the studio, but did Kojima-san specifically ask you to join him?

Hideo Kojima:
No, not really. (Laughs)

Yoji Shinkawa:
It just happened naturally. (Laughs)
I mean, if Kojima-san was going to continue creating things, I wanted to do it with him. I honestly had absolutely no anxiety about it. I just figured I’d be working with him the exact same way I always have.

Interviewer:
So you didn't even need to exchange words about it.

Yoji Shinkawa:
Before Kojima-san went independent, around the latter half of 2015, I was visiting galleries and art museums a lot to get some creative energy. Purely by chance, I ran into Yoshitaka Amano-sensei (Illustrator for the Final Fantasy series).
When I told him, "I'm leaving the company," he immediately said, "You're going to keep working with Kojima-san, right? You absolutely should stick with him."
Looking back, I think he was completely right.

Any serious MGS collectors here?

I received this a number of years ago as a gift from a relative who worked at GameStation UK, since I absolutely adore the MGS series.

I can see a lot of the 1/500 versions.. but absolutely nothing on this 1/25 version.

Does anyone have anymore information? I am leaving the country and would be looking to sell
