ThursdayBoots Challenger QC Issue with Gaps
I’m new the world of boots and picked up Thursdayboots Challenger in Teacore. I was pretty excited about then as they look great and felt like the boots were made with quality material.
I noticed the other day that there were some small gaps on both sides of both boots (near front of heal). The leather upper was not flush to the midsole, like it was just too short. I was able to see the interior (clearly see the yellow/orange colour leather of the midsole). These are their top of the line, Black Label, and was surprised at what I thought was a QC issue.
When I reached out, the rep said it’s normal and “Within our standard manufacturing specifications“. How is this not considered a defect.
I‘m not planning on submerging my boots, but if I did, these gaps would be an easy entry point to flood my boots. And the trapped water, wouldn’t that cause the interior leather to rot? Anyone have had these issues? If so, what was the fix (eg filler)?
I’ve attached pictures of the outside of both boots (a lot bigger than the inside gaps).
To be fair, the rep offered to exchange but stated that there’s no guarantee that the next pair would not have the same gaps.
Thanks for hearing me out.
