Pulled the trigger!

Pulled the trigger!

I’m temporarily moving to Europe for my job and don’t want to carry my desktop around. The Zypherus has had my eye for a while because I want a well rounded premium laptop, not a flashy brick of a gaming laptop that runs 2 hours battery on youtube. I was originally looking at the 5070ti model… but best buy just marked the 5080 model down $750, only $150 more than the 5070ti model. I figured this is probably the best deal I’ll get before I start traveling, so went ahead and bought it. I’m gonna throw in another SSD in its extra slot and call it a day. Yes I know it’s expensive, no I don’t really care lol.

Upgrading from my 5 year old XPS 15 with an i7 12700H, 3050ti 4gb, and 32gb of ram.

Muslim friends?

I’m a revert and let me tell ya, it’s lonely. I feel like I have a “bubble” around me and that I’m always the odd one out when with friends. They either indulge in things that I don’t (drinking, partying, etc), or simply don’t relate to me. I go to my local mosque and I have met people there, but they’re like twice my age (I’m 24). They’re really good people I just wouldn’t really hang out with them outside of the mosque. They added me to a group chat on WhatsApp for other Muslims in the area. but there’s just simply not that many where I live and even less so my age.

I have a really uncomfortable identity crisis. My faith has been incredibly private mostly due to lack of confidence and support. Between family, coworkers, friends, I love them all but they just don’t understand me. Like having to take the time at work to go pray but coming out to my coworkers sounds terrifying.

I guess what I’m asking is, how can I gain confidence either on my own or alternatives to making Muslim friends? I also want to be more open about my faith and publicize it eventually.

Went to a mosque for the first time

I realize that I was so nervous for no reason. They welcomed me with open arms and turns out there’s many reverts there. I prayed maghrib and isha with them then they made me food. The Imam bringing me up and giving me the microphone was a little scary but glad it happened 😂 I ended up with so many new contacts in my phone and multiple invites to dinner (everyone wants cook for me 😭). Honestly so glad I went this is a huge step in my deen and I needed a community.

Islam has been a blessing and a curse.

I am a revert of about 2 years. The girl I wanted to marry split with me today after a year and a half because she could no longer bare the pressure of her family. I am Muslim, but come from a white American Christian family, and to simply put it her family rejected me. I’m not sure if it’s my race, my family, the fact I haven’t always been Muslim, I have no idea. I feel so much anger, pain, sadness, all the emotions. The worst part about it, is she and her family were the only other Muslims I know and I love each and every one of them dearly. To lose them means I no longer know a single Muslim in real life, so I am completely alone. I have never been to a mosque and have no idea how to approach one. I also face immense religious pressure from my own family. This religious dysphoria that I’ve been in has really brought me to the lowest and I have no more capacity. I just hope God understands.
