Hi all. I am about to cancel my current health insurance now that I am going to be covered through Sutter. However, I am unsure about when my benefits kick in. I know that it is supposed to be the 1st of the month 30 days after employment and my start date was 6/1/26, so I thought that meant I’d start 7/1/26. However, on the mybenefits site it says I can make changes until July 31st. Does that mean my benefits won’t kick in until August 1st?

I was offered a position as a medical assistant in a specialty I’m not set on. However, I am strongly considering taking this position as my way into Sutter. My question is, how long would I have to wait until I can change departments? Any advice would be appreciated.
