I had my first accident this evening whilst whittling, as a newbie it’s a stern reminder to not try to run before you can walk, I took the gloves off because the ones I had just seems to restrict my hand too much.

Anyway heres the photo, I work on building sites so my partners told me it may need glued or stitched, I’m not sure but for now it just has a plaster 👀🤷‍♂️

This is my second ever carving, I tried to go for an Owl😂. Not really sure what else I could do, I know it’s messy but with this Amazon starter kit I don’t feel I can do much detail know matter how much I hone the blade. Advice wanted/needed. Thanks

Hello, I’m new to whittling. I bought the usual Amazon set of knives that came with strip , compound, tape etc you know. I’ve made a few things (not great) but I want to continue and getting bored of fighting with the wood and constantly sharpening the blade even tho I’m using basswood.

I’ve been trying to research some better tools to progress further into my journey, mainly just a roughing and detailing knife, I’m looking at the Mora 106 for roughing and the Flexcut KN34 for detailing.

Can anyone confirm if this would be a good pairing or recommend anything better? I don’t want to be spending a fortune but prepared to pay a “decent” amount for the right knives that’ll save my buying replacement/upgrades in the near future.

Thanks
