TOP 1% RESULTS TAKES TOP 1% EFFORT

there isnt some crazy conspiracy against you. the much simpler explanation is that top 1% players are way more jobless than you are. QUIT YOUR JOB. PLAY MORE LEAGUE.

Minions feel way better in League classic than regular.

This post is more about regular league than it is classic. I know a lot of people got bored of classic fast, but the one thing that feels really nice to me in classic is that minions don't do %HP damage. I won't claim it is the absolute best version of minions, but I like it way better than what we have now.

I think the current minions are better than 2025's since they were tweaked a little bit, and also move faster, thus reinforcing the next wave faster, but having played since 2012, I think 2024 League was genuinely my favorite year.

I'm sure we all have different ideas of the best year of League, but to me, 2024 League was peak creative expression and skill expression, for a few reasons:

  1. They got rid of the mythic system in January 2024. I wish they kept more of the items, but for the first time in over 3 years, we weren't hard locked into specific 1st items anymore.
  2. Even aside from wave management, this was before they started artificially flattening creative expression and skill expression.
    • Examples: forced smite on jg, forced support item on support, death recap telling you exactly what summoners and ults the enemy used.
    • There was also the weird anti-role-swap changes. Thankfully that was temporary, but now we have the lane quests, which isn't as bad, but still hinders creativity in my opinion.
  3. Most importantly though, this was before they started messing with minions (and watering down wave management in the process).

I hope this reads as a discussion post more than a rant, and I'm looking forward to good discussion in the comments! I'm glad we're past the 2025 minions, but I really miss the skill expression that came with old wave management.

i finally updated tahmkench.info

i know i said i'd update it sometime in january. it is august, and for that i apologize. i just did not enjoy the game for a while.

though i'm still frustrated with some aspects (such as their balance philosophy on tk, and the occasional flattening of skill expression and creative expression), i am finding myself enjoying the game, and especially enjoying discussing the game.

this is mostly a website for tahm kench top, but i've added a section for TK bot (ADC position), as i believe it to be his best role right now. i also updated runes and items a little bit, and added zaahen to the matchups.

there is more to be done yet after i get fully get back into my groove, but i hope this helps even just one of you, and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

we are so back baby!!!! tahmkench.info is back!!!!

jungle pet buff math

look, i'm not suggesting we all take to the jungle, but... 1% extra bonus health vs 4% extra ability power.

if you buy an amp tome, 4% of 20 = 0.8 net buff for ability power

if you buy a ruby crystal, 1% of 150 = 1.5 net buff for health, almost 2x what ap got.

keep in mind though this is solely for jungle pet damage. AP is also affecting other things. this is only interesting to me because we scale off health. i strongly believe this is still going to be bad, but perhaps someone interested will try it a couple games, see how it feels, and report back?😼

Mr. Compress: Rising Swap Combo

here i deal 7958 damage in a true combo across the enemy characters.

fun fact: in ultimate rising (last character), i was able to deal 12409 damage, which is over four entire standard health bars!

apologies for doomposting once more, but i really can't believe this buff is going through. theyre legitimately making grey health (which is WAY better utilized in duo lane since you get extra grey health when there are 2+ visible enemies nearby) even more annoying for the players that have been complaining that tahm kench is unkillable (flat damage squishies).

why its bad, and what would be better:

THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO BUFF HIM!!!!! IF this makes tahm kench good in duo lane, we will see a part 2 of the reptile jinx clip sometime in the near future, and then TK will probably get nerfed in some annoying way (such as -3 armor, as they've done in the past) WHILE KEEPING THE ANNOYANCE THAT PLAYERS KEEP COMPLAINING ABOUT. (by nerfing base armor while buffing something like this, it makes it even harder for TK to deal with %HP damage characters while flat dealers have the same annoyance as always)

hooooly. why can't we just get some %HP damage, or close the gap between normal and empowered grey health. this would make things less annoying for tahm kench AND enemy players so that we can actually have some good buffs instead of being locked into further lows every time they buff the WRONG THING

how this particular buff could be fixed to be good:

i really don't care that this is a duo oriented buff, that's fine, even though top is where he struggles in high elo, and in lower elos it's relatively even. i more care that this is going to make him even less healthy in the future if they don't fix the grey health discrepancy (and if they were to close the gap on then maybe this can actually be a perfectly fine buff, but i'm not holding my breath)

why it's so discouraging to me:

ive been preaching this here on reddit, on my website, in riot tickets, and on twitter under patch previews, for over a year, and i really don't know what more to do (if anyone has any ideas that'd be great). it feels like they're gonna keep this philosophy forever that tahm kench needs to stay weak, because they legitimately just don't know how to fix him so that everybody is happy.

i don't mind if my champion is weak for a while, but it's the fact that they keep this horrible horrible horrible philosophy. it's just so discouraging.

this'll be the last post i make on this matter, i really don't mean to doompost, but this is entirely frustrating to the point i'm opting out of playing TWO games to get back into diamond after decaying this season (and i usually end master). i just have no motivation to play a game where the balance team just doesn't care to put any ounce of effort into finding a buff that our champ can keep.

i hope this buff does nothing, that's the best case scenario.

please help:

honestly if anyone has any ideas on how we could get this sort of thing to riot, please put it out there, because i'm out of ideas, and i really hate to say it but, as tenacious as i've been, i'm genuinely losing the motivation.
