If I’ve listened to a song before and then I hear a remix of it, I almost always hate it. If I see that one of my favorite artists posted a new song and then I see that it’s a remix, I’m instantly disappointed. It’s almost always unbearable for me. It’s like having a pb&j made the same way for years and then trying a different jelly.
Charli XCX’s album BRAT but it’s totally different but also still BRAT is a good example of this. The remix with Lorde and Billie Eilish completely replace the original songs since it feels like they deserved to be there in the first place but all of the other songs on that album are unbearable.
To be clear, I love when songs take elements from other songs including beats. Tyler the Creator’s That Guy song was great but that song had entirely different vocals and flows. It’s specifically when the song tries to manipulate or make better what was already there is what I can’t stand.
I’ve seen many videos on my feeds that showcase the poster’s dog, cat, or any other pet doing human-like things. Things like people pranking their pet, “rage-baiting” their pet, dressing up their pet in clothes, or giving their pet human food.
In my opinion, all of that is abuse. A cat, for example, is incapable of understanding the concept of a prank. Therefore, when you prank them, all they know is that one moment you’re fine and the next you’re hostile. Even the cucumber prank is abuse imo.
Same thing with dressing them up. Unless it’s for their safety, if you’re putting clothes on your pet and they seem uncomfortable, don’t force it.
Human food in moderation is okay. Like you can give your dog a chicken nugget from time to time but giving your dog eyer other cheese ball you eat is incredibly unhealthy and to me is abuse.
I have a dog and I let her sleep on my bed and I give her scratches and kisses but that should be the furthest it goes. It’s still an animal at the end of the day and treating them differently is in a way disrespectful to them. Different animals have an entirely different set of instincts and behaviors to humans and we must treat them accordingly. It’s the worst when people neglect their dog’s bad behavior or don’t train it.
In other words, the right to vote shouldn’t be impeded upon by race, sex, ability/disability, or (and this is the controversial one) age.
I believe that anyone who lives in this country (the United States of America) is affected by legislation and therefore should have a say in what gets decided, including children.
How this would work would be up for debate. For example, would it be done through schools? Would it be limited up until a certain age? etc.
I think this would be a good way to introduce politics to young people and it would familiarize them with the concept of voting.
So most of you are probably familiar with Slushy Noobz with Hamzah and Martin. They are a comedy duo that have an ironic and over the top “cringe” style of humor. They often go viral on TikTok and YouTube with millions of views and edits which is how I discovered them.
One video of theirs is called “Draw My Life” and during the video Hamzah mentions that he got deported in Canada. Martin then says “okay my dog died 🤨” It’s one of the funniest clips I’ve ever seen and I assumed that everyone has seen it…
Well, today in my speech class, we were working on our upcoming speech. I should mention that I am more quiet and reserved when I’m in school. So there is one guy in this class, who I’ll call Benson, who has been seated next to me a few times. We will occasionally have conversation and back and forth and are friendly.
Today as one of his friends, who I’ll call Amy, was passing out papers she made a joke saying “you gotta get better handwriting.” He then joked back and said “hey don’t bully me.” It was at this moment when another guy at the table said that he has dysgraphia to which Benson confirmed.
Without thinking, I said “okay well my dog died.”
Instant silence.
Each person who could hear me was staring, mouth agape, directly at me. Benson then said “What? 😳😄” in a confused tone. I then said “my bad, I was making a reference, I’m sorry, it was just a joke.” I then asked if anyone knew what I was referencing and no one had any idea.
After a bit things resumed back to normal and people were going about their daily work. A few minutes later I asked if he really hadn’t seen the “well my dog died” clip and he said “no, what is that?”
I then briefly explained what Slushy Noobz is and I said that he has to get on that. I then emailed him the clip and he laughed.
TL;DR: I said that my dog died and silenced the room. Think about how it would sound if you didn’t get it before you make a reference.
The Ultimate Paintball Event will happen at 5 pm Central Time. I am expecting at least 20 people but the hope is for 30+ (the more the better). The dream scenario would be getting all 60 people and completely fill the server which would be awesome. If you are going to attend, bring a friend/friends. We will also be asking for everyone to invite their friends once the event starts. I am hoping for this to be a full on battlefield.
If this doesn't go well, or there aren't as many people as we'd like, we'll do another later.
I'll see you on the battlefield 🫡
