Parking
Anyone know what the parking situation is like at USF in the fall and spring term? Like how early should I show up so I won’t be late for class?

So I got originally accepted from HCC into UTAMPA for biochemistry because I didn’t hear back from USF until later on. Now, I’m set for USF in biomedical sciences right now but was wondering if it’s possible to apply to UT as a transient student to take a class that fits my USF schedule and work schedule because I could not drive four days a week to goto school. I’d rather drive from to USF to UTAMPA. Main reason I’m asking is because of the flexibility with the classes. Any pros or cons I should be aware of from becoming a potential transient student? I’ve heard of people transferring from UT to USF or USF to UT? Does that happen a lot too? Any advice would be great. Thank you.
Just got a QRE from Tuesday night and was discovered Wednesday. Do other retail pharmacies have QRE’s or is it just Publix? I was told that if I get 12 of them in a year then I get fired and something about them disappearing when the next year rolls over. Any advice or tips on how to avoid them, even if it’s busy?
Not sure where to start at this point because I have so much to say. For starters, I love my job as a tech at times, especially when it’s chill and steady. I have great patients and I have been a technician with Publix for 3 years (been with Publix for 4 years). I’ve got my pet peeves, my pros, cons, etc
- First, drive thru, bro like don’t ring the damn bell when I’m on the phone or helping another patient (90% of the time it’s their adderall, Xanax, norco, or Percocet). You got two eyes. Did you receive a text that it’s ready? If not, then it’s not. If you did, cool. To add on, don’t hog up drive thru with all the complaints and story telling, especially during lunch and rush hour. Do ya not see the line behind you and how much further behind you will put me if you keep sitting in your car? I’ve had days where I wanted to shut the drive thru down and hope and pray that something breaks in the drive thru or there will be construction.
- Pharmacy closes at 9. Why are we not stocking, vacuuming, ordering supplies, and filing? I’ve had to stay past 9 with my boss to make sure all of this stuff got done. So much for being a team. There is one person I trust in the pharmacy that will get the job done.
- The filling procedures. I just got told this today that per prescription is supposed to be in one basket like we can’t have multiple prescriptions in one basket when doing product. Like Person A goes in the basket. Person B goes in this basket. Person C goes in this basket. Once filled and need to be verified then Person A, B, and C can go in one basket. Wtf? It slows me down when I have to do a basket individually. I’m a fast filler but corporate is just making this job more complicated then it needs to be
- the QRE’s: I just got one today because the prepaid was one of the scripts was in the wrong prepaid bag and I didn’t accept the prepaid (another tech did) and I released it to the patient. So that put me in a mood. Hopefully we can have someone double check us (another tech or the pharmacist) to make sure the prepaid sticker is with the correct patient and prescriptions. The patient was not happy and said this was the third time it’s happened to her. I don’t even recall this happening at all to her. This is the first I’m hearing of it.
- The Tech hours: this is why and how I get backed up is because the opener leaves at either 5:30 or 6 and same with the mid. That leaves me by myself with the pharmacist during rush hour with god knows how many has to be pre-verified, filled, and verified. I’ve floated at stores where the mid would stay till 7:30 and they are busier than my home store. My home store, doesn’t have the hours or the tech can’t work this day or during this time. Now you’re screwing the closer over and the closer can’t get all the tasks done before 9pm and it’s probably going to be playing catch up the next day.
- The techs: we are supposed to be a team and know how to work the queues. If you are typing and it goes to adjudication and the reject is too soon till next week, don’t leave it in there. Same thing if it’s verify LASA. Or if it’s control, don’t go off what the adjudication, see when the last pick up was done. Honestly some people I teach, I have to repeat myself and it’s stressful asf. Especially when they can’t keep up when it gets busy. Last, don’t leave someone to grab all the patients while you do nothing but CBT’s or look on your phone, like I’m filling, doing data, grabbing the phone, and drive thru. If someone approaches and I’m filling an antibiotic or waiter, do people expect me to stop what I’m doing to help them?
- Language barrier: Does anyone else struggle with the language barrier? I have been struggling and have been using translate on my phone, even though it’s time consuming.
Any insights or advice or some techs that can relate and help me and/or the pharmacy get better and improve. It’s just been stressful and I want to make the pharmacy a better place. I know mentally it’s hard to do multiple tasks especially when the other techs leave early or call out.
I just failed organic chem 1 (dropped it the first time, failed it this time so next semester either summer or fall will be my third time). Do I still have a chance to get into pharmacy school? I have a 2.9 GPA right now (grades haven’t been posted yet so I imagine my gpa will drop). Still have some other prerequisites I need to complete to. Do I still have a chance to bring my GPA back up too? I’m already working at Publix pharmacy as a technician too and have been working as a technician since June 2023.
