It said heat the box and enjoy…
I guess mission technically finished. Is this the new carbon edition? It paired well with regret and smoke alarms. On the bright side I don’t think any bacteria survived.

Tangzu Wan’er S.G 2, the best budget IEMs for audiobooks and music?
I ended up choosing the Tangzu Wan’er S.G 2 USB-C for:
- General music / lo-fi / chill hip hop
- Audiobooks
- Long listening sessions / low fatigue
- USB-C convenience
They are balanced with a slight warmth, smooth treble, slightly forward vocals, and moderate bass.
Easy and natural to listen to, trading some detail and sharpness for comfort and low fatigue.
I’ve enjoyed listening to them, but I didn’t get a chance to try the alternatives, so… how’d I do?
I kept this to options around or under $30
- Truthear GATE
Sound signature: balanced-neutral, clean, slightly dry, good vocal clarity. Seemed less warm and relaxed than SG2.
- 7Hz x Crinacle Zero:2
Sound signature: balanced, fuller and bassier than the original Zero-style tuning, still fairly clean. More fun and full than flat, but less vocal-focused and less smooth.
- Tanchjim Bunny
Sound signature: clean, brighter-leaning, lightweight, with USB-C/DSP appeal. Seemed clearer and more energetic, but more likely to feel sharp.
- Moondrop Chu II
Sound signature: balanced, compact, slightly lively, clean. Strong all-rounder, but the livelier treble and filter/humidity concerns made it feel less safe. I also had issues with my last Chu 1. They do have a DSP version with USB-C.
- Tangzu Wan’er S.G Edition Red
Sound signature: warmer, more fun, slightly more colored than neutral. Seemed more bass/fun-leaning than the SG2.
- Final E2000
Sound signature: clear, crisp, compact, natural, slightly more refined than E1000. Good for natural listening, but fixed cable and less vocal-forward.
- Final E1000
Sound signature: natural, smooth, easygoing, non-aggressive. Pleasant and relaxed, but less clear, less engaging, and less practical.
- Final E500
Sound signature: light, gentle, relaxed, spatial-audio oriented. Comfortable and easy, but less detailed and less full.
- KZ Vader Pro
Sound signature: fun, energetic, bass-forward, more spacious. More exciting than SG2, but less natural for voices and more fatiguing.
- Headphone Zone x KZ Thunder
Sound signature: punchy, energetic, V-shaped, fun. Better for impact and excitement, but less suited to relaxed listening and audiobooks.
- KZ Castor
Sound signature: bass-forward, energetic, fun, thick low end. Too bass-first, with vocals less central.
- KZ Castor Pro
Sound signature: more controlled Castor-style tuning, still energetic. Better controlled than Castor, but still not as smooth or speech-focused.
- KZ ZSN Pro X
Sound signature: classic V-shape, punchy bass, bright treble, recessed mids. More exciting, but too sharp and less natural.
- KZ ZSN Pro 2
Sound signature: energetic, bright-leaning, more impressive than smooth. Less ideal for long, low-fatigue sessions.
- CCA CRA Pro
Sound signature: V-shaped, energetic, bass and treble emphasized. Fun, but mids and voices felt less central.
- FiiO JD10
Sound signature: warm, soft, forgiving, less detailed. Easier and cheaper, but less clear and less separated.
- 1MORE Piston Fit USB-C
Sound signature: smooth, consumer-friendly, warm, less resolving. Easy to listen to, but less clear, less layered, and less refined.
- KZ EDX Pro
Sound signature: budget V-shape, bass and treble emphasis, recessed mids. Fun cheap pick, but rougher and less vocal-focused.
- KZ Gale
Sound signature: casual fun tuning, mild bass emphasis, mainstream sound. Decent casual option, but less refined and less vocal-forward.
- KZ Pisces
Sound signature: likely energetic dual-DD KZ-style tuning. More fun-leaning than smooth.
- Moondrop Quark 2
Sound signature: compact USB-C earphone, clean-ish but limited. Convenient, but SG2 felt more complete for music and speech.
How’d I do?
Did I reason through this correctly?
Did I over-weight relaxed tuning and under-weight technical detail?
