There are scammers monitoring every post on reddit for opportunities, don't fall for them
I recently posted on /r/Guadalajara to look for shuttle passes to world cup games, and I was surprised that I got DM'd pretty quickly by u/Abhishekdhital/, who claimed he had several passes and wanted me to give him an offer. Who the hell scalps shuttle passes? But I was curious to see where this scam will go, so I quoted him a number and he immediately asked for payment method. So obviously, very suspicious.
Then I go to his profile, and he's apparently based in fucking Nepal. Ok maybe he's another World cup traveler. So I told him I would pay him in person since we taking the same shuttle. And he stops responding and deletes his account soon after.
So this is fairly straightforward fraud at this point, nothing new. But what's surprising to me is that he found me so quickly after I posted on /r/Guadalajara of all places. I highly doubt this Nepalese scammer is just regularly browsing the Guadalajara subreddit for opportunities like this.
Which means there's probably a scam center based in South Asia that's actively scanning every single reddit post to look for opportunities to scam you. They're everywhere, DO NOT do business with anyone on reddit that can't prove to you that they will do the right thing.
