'Congratulations! You have a buyer for your ticket'

If you receive an email with this title for your ticket sale from StubHub, you can be assured that it is 99% a scam by some StubHub buyers! This happened to me five times for the same World Cup ticket after I adjusted my price to be the cheapest. At first, I wasn't sure that would be the case, but after experiencing this repeatedly for the same ticket, I am now certain. Some sellers want to keep their ticket as the cheapest one and somehow find a way to buy the cheapest ticket with a method that will eventually result in cancellation. In the meantime, your ticket won't be on the market for at least an hour, allowing their ticket to become the cheapest again.

I don't understand how StubHub allows this to happen, and it sucks!

StubHub and Fraud?

My wife and I are having two different fraud (?) problems with StubHub and they could not care less

A seller sold me tickets for non-existent seats at LA’s Greek Theater. SH says I have to wait until two hours before the show before they will do anything even though SH admits the seats do not exist. They say they will give me other seats but I don’t trust SH. They also say I can resell them (!?) which is both unethical and not possible since I don’t have the tickets. At first SH told me the seats were ADA seats and that they’d be great seat as a result. I would no sooner take those seats than park in a handicapped parking spot. Later they walked back this evaluation and agreed the seat numbers didn’t exist (confirmed with The Greek). SH refuses to contact the seller.

My wife bought tickets for a Hollywood Bowl show and the seller suddenly changed the delivery from mobile tickets (required by the Bowl) to screenshots (specifically not accepted by the Bowl). SH says she had to take the screenshots to the show and get rejected at the gate before they will do anything. SH also admits that they know the Bowl doesn’t accept screenshots. They say it will take three days to contact the seller but the show is Saturday.

I am not convinced either seller actually has the tickets. And from what I’ve read I’m not convinced SH will give me tickets that are of comparable value.

Anyone have positive experiences in these kinds of situations?

Seller sold me World Cup semifinal ticket and advertised it as "no restrictions" when in fact it has major restrictions what do I do? File for arbitration?

I paid $4591 for a dallas world cup semifinal ticket on stubhub. The seller stated his ticket has no restrictions but instead it turns out it does have major restrictions - it cannot be transferred, and even says "you are not the owner of the ticket." I contacted stubhub and of course they say "all sales are final, no refund."

I heard that arbitration costs stubhub $6,000 to $10,000. Does this make them more likely to cave in and give a settlement if I file a certified letter for arbitration? What do I do with this ticket in the meantime? I have a schedule conflict and probably now cannot go to the dallas game in person.

StubHub sucks, buy my Two Hospitality Trophy Lounge M94 - USA vs. Belgium

I've got two (willing to split) Hospitality Trophy Lounge tickets to the upcoming game in Seattle on Monday. I can't make it, StubHub sucks ass, and you can't resell Hospitality tickets on the FIFA site, so...here I am. The MSRP was $6,000 each (no longer available), online similar are selling for somewhere between $5,000-$8,000 each, I'm flexible at this point, shoot me a number. Transfer will be via FIFA app only, I can provide proof of possession/ownership as requested.

The tickets are as follows:

Gate: Club Entrance/8

Level: Club

Hospitality Area: Lounge C1

Section: 210

Row: W

Seat(s): 5, 6

If u had sec 328 row 1 seat 1 and 2 in Yankee Stadium Friday night go fuck yourself those were mine

Me and my girlfriend got turned away in the rainy hot ass Bronx so thanks for that start to my holiday weekend, jerkoff Guy at the help desk tells me that it shows I paid back in April on Ticketmaster but there was then a sale on StubHub. I found no emails nor record of any sales on my account, help desk guy tries to offer me $40 nosebleeds instead of helping recover the almost $200 I paid or the better seats I sprung for. Next 3 hours spent playing ping pong on the phone with StubHub and Ticketmaster, in which case I am the ball. Only person on the other end who seems to give a damn came the second time I called Ticketmaster back, currently waiting the standard three to five business days for the internal review. No fireworks night, but at least we broke the losing streak. Go Yanks, Happy 250, FUCK Ticketmaster AND Stubhub

GOOD NEWS UPDATE: recieved better tickets than what I bought listed!

I've posted on this subreddit many times before basically ranting and asking for advice for tickets I bought late January for an Ariana Grande concert that was June 24th 2026. I called every week starting a month leading up to the concert.
Well... update is I got them the night before the concert and they were EXCLUSIVE SEATING! (no they weren't replacement seats because my seller couldn't fulfill, they were from the seller I purchased from!!)
I purchased row H (row 8) and received row D (row 4) EXCLUSIVE MEMBER SEATING!
Turns out these tickets cannot even be purchased by the general public, only by insurance club members and the reason they took so long to send is (unlike regular Ariana Grande Ticketmaster tickets sent immediately after purchase) member tickets are sent closer to the event date because they're "seasonal tickets". And they also couldn't be listed as row D because sections A through G are blacked out on all ticket sites (even Ticketmaster) because they are only for insurance club members.
Not only were we closer to the stage, we also got exclusive access to a lounge no one else but members could go to. It was literally like out of a movie. We went down a stairwell no one else was going down so we were the only ones. We got to the first floor and walked down this long dim lit corridor with wooden floors with suited employees greeting us to confirm we had member tickets. After they confirmed we had member tickets, we were led to the lounge with PRIVATE CHEFS, COUCHES, AND THE CLEANEST EMPTIEST BATHROOMS I HAVE EVER WITNESSED IN PUBLIC. i am not a wealthy person by any means so my jaw was on the floor. they had fancy desserts, cooked fresh burgers, tacos, lobster in front of us. After we got our food and ate on the leather sofas and dark wooden tables (i know im being very descriptive, i just wanted to paint a picture of how insanely rich i felt in these moments), we went out the door to the MAIN FLOOR OF THE CONCERT! We were in the 100s section but we got access to it from the FLOOR which no one else but members in the 100s could do. we literally saw the stage so up close on the floor and our seats were literally amazing.
So... long post, really descriptive, but this was an absolute dream for me. I still cannot believe I got such good tickets with so many perks. I've been a fan of Ariana Grande since I was in elementary school listening to her music in the computer lab at school and watching her on Nickelodeon.
To people waiting for their tickets, there IS hope :)

I Feel Like I Got Scammed by StubHub. Anyone Considering Legal Action?

I originally purchased multiple tickets for my family through StubHub. About 10 days later, our plans changed, so I decided to resell those same tickets through StubHub.

This is where everything started falling apart.

StubHub kept asking me to provide the ticket barcodes for my resale orders. The problem was that the tickets I purchased from StubHub didn't even include the barcodes, so I literally couldn't provide something I never received. I contacted customer support multiple times, and every time I was told to just wait until closer to the event.

Their system is honestly one of the most frustrating I've ever dealt with. As a buyer, I had to constantly monitor my account because I had no idea when the seller would finally transfer the tickets. It felt like I had to stay online 24/7 just to make sure I received them in time and that they were actually the correct tickets.

Then, even though I bought and resold everything on StubHub's own platform, they still expected me to manually handle the barcode process. Why isn't this automated? Why am I responsible for moving information between two StubHub orders? It felt like I was doing StubHub's job for them instead of them providing the service they charge fees for.

After numerous chats and escalations, the original seller finally transferred the tickets to me only about 3 hours before the event. Unfortunately, they were the wrong tickets and didn't match what I had originally purchased. At that point, there was no way I could fulfill my resale orders with the incorrect tickets.

I contacted StubHub immediately. Support told me I qualified for either a full refund or replacement tickets for my sales. I initially chose the replacement option, but with the resale deadline approaching, there wasn't enough time. Support then instructed me to transfer the incorrect tickets back to shmobilereturns@gmail.com so they could process a refund. I followed their instructions exactly and transferred the tickets back immediately. I have proof of the transfer and all of my chat history.

Support also told me that any sales related to those tickets would either be covered with replacement tickets or that I could dispute any resulting charges.

Instead, this is what happened:

  • I never received the promised refund for my original purchase.
  • StubHub charged me for every related sale.
  • I no longer have the tickets because I transferred them back exactly as instructed.
  • I'm out the money I paid for the original tickets and I'm being charged for the resale orders.

The financial impact is enormous. Because the chargebacks were applied to all of my resale orders while I never received the promised refund, I'm out thousands of dollars due to a problem that started with StubHub delivering the wrong tickets and then failing to honor what their own support told me.

I've submitted disputes and provided all of my evidence, including the transfer confirmation and my chat history, but I still haven't received a resolution.

I'm also trying to determine whether this is an isolated incident or part of a broader pattern. If others have experienced similar issues and are exploring legal options, including speaking with an attorney or pursuing a potential class action, I'd be interested in connecting.

Podcast Talks About Stubhub's Many Scams

Stubhub used to be a reliable place to buy and sell tickets, but the world cup has exposed a fatal flaw in its business model. On this episode of Decibel and Docket podcast, journalist Dave Brooks talks with activist Randy Nichols about what changed at Stubhub and why its became a hub for repeated scams and ripoffs.

StubHub sold me non-transferable FIFA World Cup tickets. What are my options?

I bought FIFA World Cup 2026 tickets through StubHub with the intention of reselling them later if I couldn't attend.

After the tickets were delivered to my FIFA account, I discovered they were Guest Assignment tickets rather than fully transferable tickets. The Send button in the FIFA Tickets app is void, meaning I cannot transfer the tickets to another person myself.

This restriction was never disclosed in the StubHub listing before I purchased the tickets. If I had known they were non-transferable, I would never have bought them.

Now I'm stuck with expensive tickets that I can't freely transfer or resell in the normal way.

Has anyone else experienced this with FIFA tickets purchased on StubHub?

Were you able to get a refund or chargeback?

Is StubHub allowed to sell tickets with undisclosed transfer restrictions?

Am i covered by the Fan Protection Guarantee in this case? what do I say say to the StubHub customer care so that I can get the refund?

Are there any options I should pursue?

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

* Don’t buy World Cup tickets from stubhub unless you’re willing to take the risk

I honestly feel like I got scammed by stubhub
I bought a World Cup ticket on June 2 and never received it. From the beginning, customer service kept giving me the same scripted response: “Just wait. Tickets can be delivered up to one hour before the game.” That might be in their terms, but how is someone who’s traveling from another state supposed to book a trip, pay for a hotel, and show up with no guarantee they’ll even have a ticket?
I asked for a refund before the game because I wasn’t willing to risk traveling for nothing. They refused and told me I had to wait until after the game. Once the game was over, they started telling me my case had been “escalated to a higher team.” I’ve been hearing that same excuse for almost a month now, and I still haven’t received my refund.
It feels like they just keep lying to buy time. Every time I call, I get the same answer, but nothing ever happens. They had no problem taking my money immediately, but when it came to delivering the ticket or refunding me, suddenly no one could help.
If you’re thinking about buying tickets through this app, be very careful. For major soccer events, you don’t get the ticket right away—you have to wait for the seller to transfer it, and there’s no guarantee that will ever happen. If it doesn’t, you’re stuck waiting while customer service gives you the same excuses over and over.
I ended up with no ticket, no refund, and weeks of wasted time chasing my own money. The worst part is that this didn’t just happen to me—some of my friends went through the exact same thing. Based on my experience, I would never trust this app again, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else take the risk either

Avoid StubHub. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

I wanted to share my experience so hopefully someone else doesn’t end up in the same situation.

I was in NYC and decided on a whim to see a Broadway show about an hour before curtain. I bought what was advertised as an instant transfer ticket on StubHub, but the ticket never arrived.

I called customer service and was told to wait a few minutes. When I called back about 30 minutes before the show, they said they were having trouble with the seller and offered to let me choose another ticket instead.

By then it was only about 20 minutes before the show, so I asked for a refund. They told me they couldn’t because of their no-refund policy.

I explained that I wasn’t changing my mind. The ticket I paid for didn’t exist, and the show was about to start. They still refused to refund me and instead said they would email replacement tickets. When I asked when, they said they didn’t know.

At that point I was standing outside the theater with 15 minutes until curtain, no ticket, no refund, and no guarantee that replacement tickets would ever arrive.

Fortunately, I walked over to the box office, and they had an excellent seat available at a heavily discounted price. I had no idea theaters sometimes release seats at the last minute, so that’s a tip I’d recommend to anyone before using StubHub.

Five minutes after the show started, StubHub finally emailed me replacement tickets. Not only were they too late to be useful, they were also significantly worse than the seat I originally purchased.

After the show, I called again to request a refund. This representative told me I should have rejected the replacement tickets if I wanted my money back. I explained that the previous representative had explicitly told me refunds weren’t an option. Then they claimed that simply opening the email counted as accepting the tickets, even though I didn’t open it until after the show had already started because I was trying to figure out what had happened.

The most ridiculous part was when they argued they had “upgraded” me because they sent me two tickets instead of one. I was attending by myself, so receiving two worse seats after the performance had already begun was hardly an upgrade.

I ultimately disputed the charge with my credit card company and won.

My advice: avoid StubHub. If anything goes wrong with your order, don’t expect customer service to fix it in time for your event. In my case, they couldn’t provide the ticket I purchased, refused a refund, sent replacement tickets after the show had already started, and then claimed I had accepted them because I opened the email after the fact. I won’t use StubHub again, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else does either.

Stubhub has blocked my sellers account and refusing to pay me.

Hello everyone,

I sold about 16 tickets for FIFA 2026 on stubhub which are worth over $15k cad, i have successfully transferred the tickets to the Stubhub buyers(for which I have email proof and video recording),

But Stubhub is refusing to pay me and have blocked my account for more then a month now.

I have reached the customer service multiple times, I emailed their executives from linkein but still got no help.

This time I have sent NOTICE OF DISPUTE with all the proof but I have not hear back anything for more then 2 weeks now.

I have a proof from FIFA that says the tickets were transferred and accepted by thr buyers who bought my tickets on STUBHUB.

With all my savings I bought the tickets from FIFA official website and sold it on STUBHUB for some extra money but they have completely ripped me off.

Is there any lawyer that can help me to recover my money back from stubhub ? Or how long does it takes for notice of dispute to be actioned ?

I’m losing it.

I bought tickets in Japan for my child to see an artist they like. It said I would get e-tickets. As this has unfolded, I was told I needed to give the seller our passport names as well as my personal email and have to meet the seller to get into the event. None of this was mentioned when purchasing the tickets, I bought e-tickets that were supposed to be delivered days ago.

Here I am, hours before the event and have asked two things of Stubhub. One, how am I supposed to get into the event when the seller has not contacted me with a plan to meet. Two, the stubhub guarantee of ticket delivery means I have to travel two hours from where I am to sit in front of the venue in case the seller flips the tickets to me last minute to fulfil their obligation. I would have to actually be at the event to try to get in (knowing now that’s impossible without the seller getting me in) in order to get a refund. How is this acceptable in any way?

I pleaded with customer service to issue a refund to salvage my day tomorrow and I was told I could be eligible for a refund in 7 hours if the seller is not responsive. Seeing as how no customer service has gotten back to me like they said they would, I assume I will be making a call to talk to yet another person about this debacle.

I’m so mad at this point, I’m about to make some contacts outside of Stubhub about this. I am attaching two screenshots, one of what their live agent told me and the other what their AI told me…..that it’s against policy to meet a seller.

What would you do? Any advice? Being rational and telling them they were not advertised correctly has not worked, should work. Has not.

19 hours after listing/ transferring world cup tickets from FIFA and listing is still not active.

stubhub doesn't care that there's only days between games. They don't care it's time-sensitive.

Chat only says it's in queue, keep waiting.

They also cannot offer any kind of timeline

World Cup tickets never delivered, StubHub promised a refund on game day, now they say "transaction is done" and won't pay. What are my options?

Sharing my StubHub World Cup experience because I'm running out of ideas. Timeline:

  • Bought 2 tickets (~$965) for a group stage match at Levi's Stadium, about 3 weeks before the game.
  • The tickets were supposed to arrive through a FIFA account that StubHub created for me — under an email address that isn't mine. So every time I tried to log in, the verification code went somewhere I couldn't see. The one time I actually got a code and logged in, the account was empty. No tickets. I have screenshots. My own FIFA account never received anything either.
  • I called 10+ times before the event. Every time: "your case is escalated, it will be resolved before the game."
  • On game day morning they told me to call back 2 hours before kickoff for replacement tickets or a refund.
  • I called 2 hours before kickoff: no replacement available, "you'll get a full refund." No confirmation email ever came.
  • Called 3 times after the game. First 2 calls: "the refund email is coming very soon." Last call: they now say no refund, because "this transaction is done."
  • Tried disputing with Amex (goods not received). Closed the same day with no investigation — "per the cardmember agreement / merchant policies, contact the merchant." Amex phone rep said they can't reopen it because of a policy they have with StubHub.

So StubHub refuses any kind of repayment, and my card points me back to StubHub. $965, nothing delivered, and I have everything in writing — order confirmation, the account emails, my pre-game message telling them no tickets were found, and the empty-account screenshots.

Has anyone actually gotten their money back through BBB complaints, CFPB complaints, AG complaints, or small claims? What worked and what didn't? And is anyone else still fighting a World Cup non-delivery refund?

World Cup Tickets Refund

Has anyone else had issues getting their refund from stubhub? I bought tickets for a group stage game in Toronto and the seller didn’t have the tickets and issued me a “refund” a week before the game. This was on June 13.

A week later on June 22 I got the email that the refund is in process and will take up to 8 business days. I called them on June 29 asking where the refund is and if I can expect it she then said within 72 hours. It’s now well over 8 business days and 72 hours and still no refund just “processing”….

I’m patiently waiting but that’s a whole 6k out of my account just waiting to come back. I also ended up getting tickets for that same game from FIFA itself so that’s beside the point, but that being said I’m starting to get worried the refund isn’t coming.

Has anyone had to escalate with stubhub to get their money back? Or did they also wait 2+ weeks?

BEWARE OF STUBHUB (not World Cup related)

BEWARE OF STUBHUB

The people at StubHub are absolute CROOKS. Please read if you are ever considering buying or selling there.

In May, I sold a Liberty vs Aces game for August. STUBHUB incorrectly labeled my seat as "front row" on THEIR end, so they canceled my sale AND charged me a $760 penalty despite it being their error. Their Manager acknowledged it was their fault and that my penalty would be reversed immediately.

3 months went by with no resolution. Then today, they tell me my penalty will stand, because I missed the delivery deadline of August 9, even though:

-They already canceled the sale! And,

-IT'S ONLY JULY 3!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll hit their phone lines on Monday after the holiday, but I assume they'll tell me all decisions are final. Any ideas?
