How to permanently deal with weeds growing through gravel in a yard?
Hi,
I have a gravel area in my yard where weeds constantly grow between the stones. The area is used as:
- a backup parking spot,
- occasional access for larger deliveries or vehicles (maybe 5 times a year),
- but most of the time it serves as a play area for my child.
There is a wooden playhouse next to it, and a slide ends directly on the gravel, so I’m looking for a solution that:
- is child-friendly,
- requires little maintenance,
- still allows occasional car access,
- and looks tidy.
Right now it’s just gravel, and apparently there isn’t enough weed protection underneath.
What would you recommend?
- geotextile fabric + new gravel?
- gravel grids/honeycomb stabilization?
- a different material?
- how would you personally solve this?
I’m also attaching a photo of the current situation.
