My Complete Disney Villainous Storage Solution - 29+ Villains

Disney Villainous Storage Solution

Hello everyone, this past January my friends and I got fairly addicted to Villainous after discovering it. As I purchased expansion upon expansion, storage and portability soon became a big problem. After doing some research on what other people did and tweaking some things to fit my preferences, I found the perfect storage solution for me. So, I want to share my storage solution, thoughts, and experience for those who are still looking for ideas. (I don't post much so excuse my lack of experience)

First off, a big thanks to u/socaljoker and this post they made. My storage solution is heavily inspired by theirs.

Breakdown

The case I purchased is the CavernHold Fortress. I wanted a storage device that would have good build quality, space for everything plus more, and be compact enough to travel with. The one big downside is that it's kind of expensive. I looked into the briefcase-style that other people have done but ultimately I wanted more space than that.

The case consists of two layers:

Top Layer

As seen in pictures 2 and 3, here I put...

  • Game Boards
  • Game tokens (power, fate token, lock token, and strength tokens)
  • Villain specific tokens and items
  • Cauldron

This top layer is a little over 2 inches in height which is perfect for the cauldron and 2 of the game board boxes stacked on top of each other (I had to do a lot of reorganizing to find an optimal layout and am pretty happy with how I've done it in picture 2). I tested putting the game boards in the top layer without storage boxes to save space and ended up nicking the corners and edges of some of the boards so I wouldn't recommend doing this.

Bottom Layer

The bottom layer is much larger which made it perfect for villain deck and mover storage.

As seen in pictures 4 and 5, here I put...

  • Custom villain deck boxes (all cards are sleeved)
  • Villain guide books
  • Action cheat sheets
  • Villain movers

The bottom layer of the CavernHold fortress comes with various dividers to customize to your needs which was very useful. The main thing I wanted to accomplish here was to have room for all current 29 Villains and future ones with their decks sleeved and in boxes.

For those who are wondering how I did the deck boxes, I printed out the disneyexperience unsleeved tuck boxes on cardstock for each villain, cut each piece of that out, and individually glued them on each face of the deck boxes (disclaimer: it looks very good imo but took very very long lol). Due to disneyexperience not having tuck boxes for Treacherous Tides, Success at Any Cost, and Come, We Fly, I attempted to recreate designs for these villain tuck boxes using AI. They aren't perfect but look good enough to me (links for these at the bottom).

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Compact and portable
  • extra room to spare
  • Very customizable
  • Soooo many pockets
  • Room for future villains (I estimated that I could fit 7 more villains)

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Dividers for bottom layer can be a bit janky at times and don't fit for certain configurations (I had to glue some in)
  • Villain movers are piled in the bottom layer which causes them to shift around when you travel (although they still stay in their compartment) and you have to dig through them (I found that they are pretty durable though so I've had no issue with this)

Conclusion

Overall, I am really happy with this project that took me around 3 months to complete. I find that the pros far outweigh the cons and would definitely recommend what I've done for people who transport their villainous game or want a compact option. I want to give a big thanks to other people who have posted their storage ideas for Villainous on this reddit and those of you who responded to previous questions I have posted!

Please feel free to ask me questions!
