Traitors Ukraine Just Hits Different

I don't know how many of you have had the opportunity to watch season 1 of Traitors Ukraine, but wow, I am always surprised by what comes out of their mouths. In the photos above, a former Miss Ukraine is talking to another contestant when she says this to him. She just met him yesterday. This group is completely cracked, curt, crazy, and very entertaining. I am 4 episodes in so far and loving it! Has anyone watched it? Did you love it?

AGEISM AND OLDEST WINNING CONTESTANT

I am currently watching Traitors Spain and there is a lot of discussion that because three of the contestants are over 50 that one of them has to be a traitor, because you have to have an older traitor in the bunch. However, I'm not certain how often that is actually the case that an "older" person ends up as beginning member of the conclave. Maybe someone out there has done the math? It got me really thinking about ageism on the show and what an actual problem it can be. Also the number of younger to older players seems skewed outside of the US series. It does seem that the US series skew a tad on the older side than the others. The UK also does a decent job with it, especially the celebrity version. In the international versions, France seems to do a great job with ageism mostly. All that said, I just find so much value in the older players, and think they are often very entertaining, enjoyable, thoughtful, funny, and many other positive traits. I could list of a long list of favorite older players, and I am sure many of you have an all time favorite. I might have to say my all time favorite older player, and I am defining older as above 55, would have to be Celia in the English versions and Danielle from France in the Non-English versions. I don't think anyone can argue that either weren't great entertainment, and also very smart and aware of what was happening, well at least Celia. If age was an issue for viewership, then the UK wouldn't knock it out of the park with ratings. I know that there isn't actually anything I can do, but hopefully raise awareness to our own biases when it comes to age. (and many other categories)

It also got me thinking who is the older winner of the show?? I have watched all the English speaking seasons and believe that the oldest winner was >!Ivar from US3!< at 63 years old. I have not seen all of the Non-English speaking seasons, but I've seen France, Quebec, some of Norway, and currently watching Spain 2. The oldest I have seen in the non-English was >!Christine Bravo in France 5!< at the age of 70. Does anyone know of any older winners? If you put the name, please black the name and season out in case I haven't see it, to not spoil it, but would love to know the age of that winner!

I think one of the great things about the traitors, especially the non-celebrity versions, is being able to watch actual humans be human and see the imperfections and reflect our current society. I would love a cultural shift, at least here in the US, towards a society that saw aging as a natural, wonderful thing, that comes with all kinds of benefits for us all, and incredible wisdom we should be tapping into more.

I'd love to hear others thoughts and feelings on it!

RECOMMENDATIONS AND HELP WITH TRAITORS DENMARK

I have been really enjoying Traitors Norway. It's definitely a top-tier franchise, and I have been wondering what country to try next. I've done all the English speaking versions, Quebec, France, and now Norway. I've been wondering about Denmark, especially since I'm half Danish, though I've never been there or speak the language. I'm curious about the difference between regular Danish Traitors and Denmark Unfamiliar Territory? Are both series good? Is one better than another? Are there any other countries that you'd recommend that I haven't seen? I'm in the USA, so access is limited on some series.

QUEBEC REIGNS SUPREME

I love so many seasons and different iterations of the Traitors. I have my favorite host, my favorite season, and now I think I have changed my favorite overall series. I used to always say that the UK was my overall favorite, but I think I have to change my vote to Quebec. >!I just finished season 3, and man, was that a satisfying ending. I couldn't believe that Jacob and Elaine won. It's exactly who I wanted to win. I think that Genevieve was an incredible Traitor and would have been a deserved winner, but I just thought Elaine was incredible television, and Jacob was so likable and truly had it figured out for the most part. I just love when two people fully trust one another to the end like that.!< I truly had no clue how that final was going to end up. It was such gripping television. I just love Karine as a host in French. She is so satisfying, and the revelation portion at the end really endears her to you. Season one is a masterpiece. Just way too many incredible contestants, and possibly the most intelligent group of faithfuls I can think of. >!Season 2 is bonkers and has so many unreal humans playing, and shows that you can win being an absolute aggressive ball of chaos. Can I just say Audrey and Manuel??!< They're all so different, and all have so many great characters and twists. >!Also, is there another long-running series of 3 or more seasons where a traitor has never won like on Quebec? Is Elaine the oldest winner of the show?!< Anyhow, all of this is to say that if you haven't watched Quebec, then you really are missing out on an incredible gem! I think anyone that's on a Traitors reddit should definitely take the chance on it. I can't wait for season 4 already!
