Long Time Gamers, Finally Building the Collection
I’m a 90s kid, grew up with a ps1 and N64 in the house.
Every year, usually, I would ask for a console or a few games for Christmas or my birthday. I knew we couldn’t afford much so I would try to keep it cheap when they asked what I wanted. I was very grateful.
Now, in my 30s, I’ve made more income over the years. I’ve met a woman who shares the same gaming passion that I do.
We’ve been investing into our library heavily since around my birthday. What started as “a hundred dollars” for the budget quickly turned into “let’s get that too, good idea. Been wanting that one too, why not?”
Here is a before photo of the library; Before the announcement of no more discs being produced for one of our favorite consoles and noticing the trends changing in favor of a digital future.
Also included: a current photo of the library, that has increased significantly in size to maintain preservation of our favorite games and our most anticipated unplayed oldies.
We ran out of room for the entirety of PS1, all Xbox console titles, GameCube, Wii and Wii U on the storage cabinet. 😅
I’ve got probably double my PS1 content from the first photo, as well as double the Xbox consoles content. No GameCube games have been added yet, but we did snag Brawl for Wii and Color Splash for Wii U recently.
This backlog should last us quite a long time, and we’ll continue to grab up what is missing as we find them, if the price is right.
Purchases have been made from:
GameStop
Disc Replay
Walmart
Amazon
eBay
Marketplace
and local flea markets!
We currently only have two games ordered and not arrived yet, Star Wars Outlaws and the Ocarina of Time remake.
I’m hoping Sony changes their direction of a digital only future. I don’t intend to buy GTA6, and it being a digital only game is only one of my many reasons I won’t be purchasing it.
