How you cope with the sea being too cold to swim in comfortably?

I live in San Diego. Grew up here. I love the beach and being in the ocean. Recently we've considered potential moves further north up the coast like SLO County or as far as Seattle. I have a hard time considering living by the coast still, but unable to enter the water without heavy wetsuits. Any transplant southern California beach bums that moved north, how did you cope?

Are these trip stats of other drivers real?

I work remotely from home. I basically only drive to take kids to school or pick them up and take them to sports. No work commutes. How are 53% of you driving less? Is this your "spare" vehicle? Also, I live in Southern California, a warm climate, and don't drive aggressively. How is my range so much worse than most of you (apparently)?
