Why do I want this man to threaten me like this?
Why is this so hot? 😭
Why is this so hot? 😭

That exchange between Barba and Lisa Hassler 😍
The "she didn't say it, or you didn't hear it?" is probably the Barba line I hear in my head most often.
And Barba was such a sassy b*tch in Forty-One Witnesses. Love it so much. 🤣
Any witches out there who can help me switch places with this dog? Can pay in money or favors...
Having a rough day and listening to music and found the perfect song while I was scrolling Barba screenshots to try to get myself to feel something... So I threw the two together so you guys could experience it with me... 😂
I watched Raúl's episode of Finding Your Roots last night and it's so fabulous!
They go through both his father's and mother's side, and talk a lot about his paternal grandparents' struggles when defecting from Cuba. And found a possible genetic connection for his artistic talents (see clip linked here).
If you have access to the show it's Season 8, Episode 3. It really is worth a watch!
This man... He's just... 🥰 There are no words.
Okay, so this episode has always confused me and I felt like I should put the question before the group...
It's basically the 2nd part of an episode from Season 14 (episode 5, Manhattan Vigil). In that episode Tom Sizemore's character is arrested for kidnapping a kid and it was discovered that he killed multiple kids many years before, too.
So Depravity Standard starts with a rehash of that, showing the recorded confession from October 2012, then flashes forward to court in November 2015 where he is supposed to be pleading guilty to murder and kidnapping, but then changes his mind.
My confusion—why in God's name did the disposition of that case take THREE YEARS after the confession?! He was just chilling on remand in police custody for three years??
They don't even give a cursory explanation for this. Not even a "yeah, all these [unspecified unrealistic fake legal basis delays] and NOW he changes his mind!"
It's like they just expect the audience won't notice that three years have past? It feels like super lazy writing to me. Like they wanted to bring back a talented guest star in Tom Sizemore, so they picked up the story where it left off without bothering to explain the delay.
Does anyone else see some logical explanation for this that I'm missing? Decent episode, but I trip on this logic bump every time I watch it.
I was starting to itch...

Also awhile ago someone said something about wanting my gifs on Giphy, so I made an account. Here is my Barba collection so you guys can have them to keep. 👍
Gifs 1-5 from Decaying Morality (S16E13), Gif 6 from Undercover Mother (S16E15), gifs 7-14 from December Solstice (S16E16).
Some of my favorite moments in here! We've got sass, empathy eyes, looking befuddled holding a child... What's not to love? 🤣
Do you think they introduced Carisi, a detective who was finishing a law degree, because they knew it was only a matter of time before Raúl Esparza decided to move on from the show?
Was Carisi always supposed to be a replacement Barba? 🤔
Take me to the world that's real
Show me how it's done
Teach me how to laugh, to feel
Move me to the sun
Just hold my hand
Whenever we arrive
Take me to the world
Where I can be alive

The bar for what qualifies as a gif from me keeps getting lower. I guess I really like making them. 😂
Pillow fight first, then truth or dare. 😍
It must be the way he chooses to handle it. Confidence (even fake confidence) is hot as f***!
Is it just me, or are the lyrics to Louder than Words (from Tick, Tick, BOOM) becoming more and more relevant? Key points-
What does it take to wake up a generation?
How can you make someone take off and fly
If we don't wake up and shake up the nation
We'll eat the dust of the world wondering why
...
Why do we follow leaders who never lead?
Why does it take catastrophe to start a revolution?
If we're so free, tell me why
Someone tell me why so many people bleed
It very frequently makes me cry!
(Song starts around 1:10 in the video above)

No idea what I'm going to do with myself once I've milked every gif out of Raúl's time on SVU. Might have to move on to Hannibal after that. 😂
I just rewatched Psycho/Therapist (S15E10), with William Lewis's trial. The scene where they give the verdict always puzzles me.
Attempted Rape - not guilty, Attempted murder - not guilty, Assault on a police officer - guilty, Kidnapping a police officer - guilty.
I know it makes for good drama to fool the audience into thinking he was going to get away with it all, but the jury's logic eludes me. Did they just think that it was never Lewis's intent to rape or murder Benson, just to torture her? I know "attempted" crimes can be tricky because you have to prove substantial steps toward the commission of the underlying crime... And I guess they just felt that hadn't been proven?
I know it's weird to think so deeply about the mindset of a fictional jury.
Anyone else have thoughts?
I'll have a full new batch out soon, but in the meantime I wanted to share this one special one... We can think of it as a message from Raúl, in times when we feel low. 🥹❤️
Yeah, I watched October Surprise. May or may not have spent like 6 hours over the course of two days making gifs... 🫣 Here they are.
And a few from other episodes I hadn't posted yet.
Going to be vulnerable a minute and seeking compassion...
I just spent the last 4 hours crying and texting a friend about life and my failures, listening to my Raúl playlist the whole time (songs from his cast recordings mostly). So much of Tick, Tick Boom speaks to me.
In particular I cried my eyes out listening to his miscast recording of Come To Your Senses. "Deep in my eyes, what do you see? Deep in my sighs, listen to me."

I feel so small and unimportant. And I wish there were a way Raúl could know how much he helps, just by being and sharing his art. I wish I could believe that even if he did know, that it would matter to him.
