My 3 Gen FireTV Cube is suddenly displaying ads in place of the screensaver … What the hell?

Up until yesterday it was displaying the default Amazon collection screensaver which I preferred over AerialViews. But now I’m seeing ads come on instead of the screensaver?

What is going on? Is anyone else experiencing the same? I haven’t changed a single setting on the cube. I haven’t touched anything that could trigger screensaver to be replaced by ads.

Considering this I may finally be forced to use AerielViews instead, which I’m not really fond of.

How can I stop these ads and force the Amazon collection screensaver to come on again?

Fire TV Recast App on Android 16

Live streaming doesn't work anymore. I've basically tried everything that either I or AI can come up with to troubleshoot. I can play local recordings, I can see the guide but I can't watch my channels through the live tv feature even while on my home network. Using a pixel 9 on Android 16. The handshake to authenticate my phone seems to be silently failing.

Anyone else run into the same thing?

Audible on Firestick

I am having the most infuriating issue and no amount of searching has given me a result.

I have a Firestick plugged into my TV. I have an Audible account. I'd like to listen to audiobooks at night so there is a low level of noise for my infant and my mind can relax.

Every instruction I can find online tells me it's as simple as going to "apps", typing in "Audible", and clicking "get". Every single time I do this, nothing happens. And I mean nothing. Audible doesn't show up in the search. I don't even get as far as "get" because it's as if Audible doesn't exist.

I'm at the end of my rope. My partner gave it a go and he spoke into the remote "open Audible" and somehow AUDIBLE OPENED? So if it can be opened with a voice command, why can't I find it *WITHOUT* a voice command? I cannot use the voice commands without waking my kid up. What am I doing wrong? Why can't I find it? What is my missing link here?

For the love of god, please help a desperate 3 month postpartum mom of two who just wants to sleep while my TV broadcasts the verbal destruction of the One Ring.

My TV’s home button won’t work

hey yall, I’m having some technical difficulties and some help would be greatly appreciated.

Ive had an amazon firetv for a few years now, and just about a week ago I tried to do a hard reset to clear the whole thing and re-sign in under my account. Unfortunately, the start up screen will not allow me to connect to my remote, I can select the language on the first screen, but when I get to the second screen (the one that asks you to press the home button and connect your controller to the tv) it wont work.

I thought it was an issue with my remote, so I bought a new one, and the new one does the exact same thing: works to select the language, but won’t work for the home button. So it isnt a controller problem.

Ive already unplugged the Tv to reset it, is there something Im missing? Every other button is responsive except for the home button. And I swear the home button was working before I reset the Tv!

Thank you in advance, I attached pictures in case that helps.

Child Programmable Remote

I have a developmentally delayed child who we allow a couple hours of screen time after dinner. He is also Autistic and has high demands when watching his favorite shows. "Again mommy" and "again daddy" are heard over a hundred times in 2hrs., when he sees his favorite parts of a show. I want to give him the ability to rewind and play on his own, without the complexity of a typical FireTV remote (that has 30 buttons or whatever). In my head, this is a programmable 3 button remote with Rewind, Fast-Forward and Play. Does anything like this exist? I tried searching and was unable to find anything that met my search criteria entered and what's in my head for simplicity. I appreciate anyone's help!!

Fire TV SUCKS

Ive boughten different tvs all varying in size and resolution, but ive noticed that if it runs Fire Tv, they might as well be trash. Any edit I do to the backlight or frame rate resets randomly. I press home while on youtube or netflix and the audio keeps playing. I open an app, it takes so long to open. I open Silk Internet and its extremely laggy 1 fps and it keeps crashing. I have good internet and any other operating system works 10x better. Even the power off button doesnt work, I have to tell the built in Alexa to turn off the tv. I hate fireTV its horrible

TV not turning on, help?

All of a sudden, our Pioneer Fire TV won’t turn on. It just keeps flashing the startup screen. We’re not aware of anything happening to it, even a power surge or anything. I’ve replaced the batteries on the remotes. I’ve found a few troubleshooting suggestions through Google and YouTube, but nothing has worked. If you’ve you had this issue, how did you resolve it?

Thank you.

Help with picture

For some reason my FireCube keeps randomly zooming in the resolution or something? I checked my TV setting and found nothing crazy. Everything is set to 1080P 16:9 resolution. I reset my cube and it fixed the problem but now it randomly came back.

Hey everyone,

I've just launched iRemote for Fire TV & Firestick on the App Store, and I'd really appreciate some honest feedback from this community 🙌

🔥 What it does:

If you use Fire TV / Firestick, this app turns your iPhone into a full-featured remote with:

🎤 Alexa Voice Control

⌨️ Built-in Keyboard (no more painful typing with the remote)

⚡ Auto-connect to your device

📱 App launcher for installed apps

🎮 Smooth navigation + responsive controls

🔄 Reliable connection (focused a lot on stability)

💡 Why I built it:

I was frustrated with laggy remotes and poor typing experience, so I built something faster, cleaner, and more reliable.

🙏 Need your help:

If you have a Fire TV device, I'd love if you could:

Try it out

Share honest feedback (good or bad)

Suggest features you'd like to see

DMs are open — if you want free access, just reach out and I'll sort you out directly 🎁

I'm actively improving the app, so your feedback will directly shape future updates.

Thanks a lot ❤️

Rant: New Fire TV Cube (3rd gen) is trash

Tl;dr: Buy an Apple TV.

Sorry if there already are posts like this, but I want to share my experience.

So I got a new Fire TV Cube recently after the old one started stuttering heavily and sometimes completely crashing.

Hopeful, I installed it as soon as it arrived. Maybe it would finally consistently play back at 24p. Maybe it would finally no longer randomly output stereo (for example Youtube content) in dolby digital, so that the AVR is not able to upscale it properly. Maybe they would finally increase the quality of the remote. Maybe they generally increased the quality of the device.

First, the positive: It does finally output stereo sound as stereo and not as stereo-fixed in a dolby signal. And yes it is faster than the old one. But that is where the improvements end.

The negative:

The new remote is even shittier than the old one. It is built to such a low standard that it already creaks more strongly than the old one after years of use. Its got extra "Ad" buttons now for certain streaming services, yay!

The device still cannot handle 24p properly. How is that still a thing in 2026? Bluray Players could do this over a decade ago and the Apple TV apparently can do it for years, how can they still not figure this out? While technically, it does support automatic framerate switching and did that when freshly set up, it promptly stopped doing that as soon as it went to sleep a couple of times. Now I can get it to do that again, if I were to change some stupid setting like color depth each time I wake this thing from sleep, but it will basically only work until the next time that I put it to sleep. Basically: Yes it does support it, but it is so buggy that it is practically unusable.

And then an entirely new issue suddenly pops up. I do not know if it did this from the start, but now it does not even properly output full RGB 0-255 colors anymore even if that mode is selected. It seems to output RGB as a signal, but it converted the space wrong because the black-levels are all messed up (the image and especially black bars are essentially grey instead of black). It feels like it sends out YCbCr Colors in a RGB 0-255 format. I solved this in a kind-of workaround by using the YCBCr-Mode, which seems to work fine, but should obviously not be necessary.

On top of all of this we get an ever increasing amount of ads and a trashier interface as time goes on.

Considering that an Apple TV will even last longer than this stuff, I would recommend anybody buy that instead of this crappy thing. The price difference is minimal considering that you will likely get a much better device there. Since I am sadly just past the return window as I fully realize the scope of the misery, I will stick with it for now. But I want to warn anybody else: Buy an Apple TV.

Need some tv advice

My old tv is finally on its last legs so ive been going down the rabbit hole looking for a new TV mainly for streaming and sports.

Was pretty much locked in on the hisense u6 at first since it seems like one of the better budget tvs with antiglare rn and the reviews seem pretty solid overall.

I checked out sony too since everyone in tv threads always says “just get a sony” lol, but once i started looking at sony models in the same range feature-wise, the prices got way outta my budget real fast.

I don’t really game but occasional switch stuff, so this would mostly just be netflix, NFL, random movies or shows.

For people who’ve used the U6, how do you like it overall? Seems like a pretty solid value option from what I’ve been reading.

Also yeah probably should’ve mentioned this earlier lol but I’m looking for a 65 inch and trying to stay around $700 max. Open to other recommendations too if there’s something better in that range

This is the one I’m eyeballing.

So my fire tv does this a lot.

it scares the shit out of me all the time. it happens once maybe more times a week and everytime I search it up I don’t find anything on it. I really need help because I’m tired of it happening to me in the middle of the night and scaring me to the point of basically running out of my room. again, I have looked EVERYWHERE for a solution and I haven’t found it. It is the insignia brand and it comes with the fire stick built in if that helps

3rd Gen Cube users – Do you have the new launcher with 20 apps row?

Im on this version now with an US Amazon account, and still don’t have the new UI. I can’t stand the current one that lets me only pin 6 apps to the front, and am waiting eagerly to get the new launcher UI.

Do you have it yet on your 3rd gen cube?

Any way to actually contact developers for fire tv sets?

I’ve found a number of engineering and software bugs in the 50 inch 4k set. I’m currently testing the Bluetooth audio offset with test patterns and proving that despite having a wide range of (undefined) values on the slider both extreme ends of the setting the audio is still 6 frame out of sync via the test pattern and the slider does nothing.

a second headset is showing only 1 frame out on the test but is clearly 5+ frames out on hd video playback and again no position on the delay slider changes anything on the test pattern or on playing video.

All the marketing, Is gone?

Title pretty much explains it. Been like this for a couple days now. At first thought I just wasn't connected to the Internet, but nope all my apps and everything still work fine.

Anyone know if this is something they are actually doing, or am I just special? Not seeing the 400 ads is quite nice lol.

My firestick remote stopped working and nothing fixed it until i connected the pos and neg terminals

My firestick remote stopped working out of the blue. I tried everything i could find on the internet, resetting this and that, hold these buttons for 10 seconds blah blah. Then i read a post where someone said they left the batteries out for 10mins and then it started working. This gave me an idea.

I took out the batteries and using a spare wire,

connected the positive and negative terminals for a couple seconds,

put the batteries back in and was back in business.

I didnt find this solution anyplace so i figured i’d post my experience. Good luck out there!
