The GOAT Ash ace
Ash has always been the type of person to get going when the going gets tough. His dynamic with N is nice.
BW Ash in Hoenn/BF (He can use BW Charizard in the Battle Frontier, but not in the league)
DP Ash in Unova (He can only use Infernape where BW Ash used Krookodile [so Stephan/Brycen/Dragonite])

Here's one of mine. Bro was feeling himself and I'm all for it.
Personally, I love his energy. He's so full of life, and just a pleasant person to be around. I love how everyone sees him as just a weirdo/battle genius wonder boy. That and the variance in his dynamics and reactions along with the slice of life tone, gives him this homely connection to the region.
One of my personal favorites, is his dynamic with Lillie. I feel like it just shows them bringing the best out in each other and caring for each other in a sweet way. Ash grabbing her hat when it flies away in Malie City or their talk in the farewell episode for example.
Also, the way Lillie is always down for Ash's antics is downright adorable. Like in the Morelul episode where Mallow feels bewildered, Lana is deadpan, but Lillie is hyped. Another time is when Ash is helping her learn the Z-Move and he tells Lillie to do a "Zap, swoosh and a bam" or something like that, and even Pikachu is looking at him like "Bro what?". Later, Lillie reveals that she actually took this advice seriously, which I feel like even Ash was taken aback by.
Kiawe, Lana, Sophocles, Mallow, Burnet, Kukui, Gladion and more all have fun dynamics with this joyful and exciting "version" of Ash as well. SM in general is a feel-good series, and I feel Ash himself is the heart of it.
The purpose of this scene is to establish the difference between Ash and Alain's perspectives on battling. Alain doesn't recognize his opponent and crushes him without a second thought not even giving him respect as a fellow competitor. Meanwhile, Ash is giving the time of day to a trainer who shouldn't even really be here. So, with that established; here is how I think it should be done.
First off, Ash will stay and watch the full battle of Alain vs Trevor. The beginning where they battle is the same. As is the part where Ash exclaims that he didn't come with halfhearted feelings. I would then have Ash ask why Everetts doing this in the battle itself. We would learn that Everett had 7 badges (hence why he can still put up a good fight) but couldn't get the 8th. He feels like a failure due to a culture that emphasizes strength as success. So when Ash beats him and he breaks down, instead of walking past him, I would have Ash sit with him and explain that he himself didn't earn every badge, at least in a traditional sense (or since XY didn't have continuity, have him talk about the Snowbelle arc; either is fine) and explain what he learned. That a strength, true strength, is only worth something and comes when you stop focusing solely on victory and focus on being engaged in the battle with your Pokemon; going at an opponent as your fully powered self. He would explain that it's a lesson he plans to put into practice here. Ash would tell Everett to please watch his match's; he promises to show him just how much fun battling like this can be.
As he walks off, some staff come into the corridor. One of them goes to detain Everett for trespassing but Ash tells him that this is his friend and he got lost on his way to the stands. The staff member escorts Everett to the bleachers; the punk tells Ash to keep his promise. Ash says that he will. He then turns around and slowly walks deeper into the corridor; at which point the staff member will tell him he's seconds from being disqualified since he's been taking so long with Everett, leading to Ash frantically booking it to his match and thankfully making it. He then declares his hometown and his dream of becoming a Pokemon Master before the first round begins.
Taking away any mention of winning the Kalos League, will not only soften the blow for people who felt they were set up but also, provides a direct contrast to the Ash of earlier in Kalos and the now more fulfilled and knowledgeable Ash. In particular I wanted to make this interaction more empathetic and tie it to Ash's own development more clearly as well as making his transition to Alola feel more natural. Favorite: SM= Needed to give more focus to the development of Mallow. Also needed to give Torracat the Fairy Trial on Poni Island. Naganadel shouldn't have been released
This is part of a series of posts where I swap each version of Ash with another and see how they do in their respective gym/island challenge. Kanto/Journeys Ash are excluded for being too weak/strong.
Viola: Rowlet beats Surskit using its hiding and is unaffected by the slippery ice field. It takes a lethal Ice Beam, so Vivillon is able to defeat it. Pikachu comes in and defeats Vivillon the same as it did in Kalos. Breakneck Blitz can be used to make Pikachu's triumph over the Scale Pokemon even easier
Grant: Ash has 3 Pokemon like in the original. Rowlet beats Onix before going down to Tyrunt. He uses Breakneck Blitz to soften it up though. Rockruff defeats Tyrunt with the same strategy it used to beat Olivia's Lycanroc
Korrina: Litten and Rowlet each defeat one of Mienfoo/Machoke before going down to M-Lucario. Ash has Pikachu use Giga Volt Havoc to defeat it.
Ramos: Torracat beats Jumpluff with Flame Charge increasing its speed. Thanks to its posion, Torracat and Rowlet loses to Weepenbel before Dusk Lycanroc takes out both it and Gogoat. Continetial Crush will be able to beat Gogoat
Clemont: Pikachu beats Bunnelby and Torracat beats Heliolisk. Both lose to Luxray but deal some damage. Poipole enters and wins with Breakneck Blitz after using its poison moves to drain Luxray's health.
Valerie: Poipole and Meltan(who uses Steelium Z) take charge and win the day against Valeries Fairy types. Sylveon is defeated by the Poison type, and Trick Room speeds up Meltan to turn the tables on Spritzree.
Olympia: Rowlet+Torracat defeat the Meowstic with Rowlet using Bloom Doom after they counter Future Sight.
Wulfric: Pikachu vs Bergmite: Pikachu

Torracat vs Avalugg: Torracat
Torracat vs Abomasnow: Abomasnow
