Traveling from Whitehorse to Tombstone Territorial Park

Hi all,

I have always wanted to go to the Yukon and I finally planned a trip in August. I'll be there for about three weeks and I got permits to backpack the Grizzly Divide Trail for part of my trip. I was wondering whats the best/cheapest way to get from Whitehorse to Tombstone? I may rent a car, but it is unfortunate to have the car sit there for 4-5 days being unused while I'm backpacking when its $150 a day. Is there any other way (tours, buses, etc.) to get between the two that will be cheaper? I don't mind the long drive because I love wildlife watching and am excited to see the sights between the two.

Advice on Multi-day canoe trip Yukon

Hi all I'm heading to the Yukon (flying into Whitehorse) this August for 2-3 weeks where I'll be doing a combination of paddling and backpacking/climbing. I want to spend about a week canoe-ing with one other. I am a beginner/intermediate paddler with a few multi-day canoe trips in Utah and down the Colorado river under my belt. I don't have any concerns with remote back country settings, but I don't have much experience with class 2/3 rapids. I want to do about a seven day trip, any recommendations? I was thinking either the Big Salmon or the Yukon (either Whitehorse to Carmacks or Carmacks to Dawson City). My priorities are wildlife and mountains!!
