Is hot springs busy when you go?

I have never went simply because I have been completely priced out of enjoying it. Which is super sad considering I went all my life… oh well. But I’m just very curious if it’s busy when people go ? It just seems so expensive I wonder how they do .

Also if annoys me they have implemented walk ins being more expensive than booking online. I get it’s easier for them but wow really crappy for older people that might not be online or have access to getting online.

On this day in 1899, the White Pass & Yukon Railway Route reached all the way to Bennett, British Columbia.

Say what you will about the role which the White Pass & Yukon Route played in colonialism and the marginalization of the Indigenous population (and there is plenty to say, don't get me wrong), but one cannot deny the impact this railway had upon Yukon's history. It opened the Yukon up in a way which had never been done before, and played an important role in the Gold Rush for which it was originally built. The railway line was operational for nearly a century before closing in 1982.

Traveling from Whitehorse to Tombstone Territorial Park

Hi all,

I have always wanted to go to the Yukon and I finally planned a trip in August. I'll be there for about three weeks and I got permits to backpack the Grizzly Divide Trail for part of my trip. I was wondering whats the best/cheapest way to get from Whitehorse to Tombstone? I may rent a car, but it is unfortunate to have the car sit there for 4-5 days being unused while I'm backpacking when its $150 a day. Is there any other way (tours, buses, etc.) to get between the two that will be cheaper? I don't mind the long drive because I love wildlife watching and am excited to see the sights between the two.

Raising Children in Whitehorse/Growing up in Whitehorse - what were your experiences?

To those who grew up here/chose to raise a family here after originally growing up in the "big cities" down south - what were your experiences? Do you feel as if you or your children got adequate school/extra circular experiences? Do you feel as if you/your children are socially stunted or "behind" in any way, as a result of growing up in a relatively small town with a relatively transient population? Were you/are you happy with the schooling and community/recreational opportunities available to you?

If you could go back, would you do it again in Whitehorse? Or would you pick some place else?

Best Poutine in the territory?

Alright, French Canadian stuck living in the top half of BC; I’ll be in Whitehorse next week and around the southern half of the territory a bit. What’s the best poutine option? I miss good poutine and I’m looking for a good classic poutine and maybe a galvaude if anyone in the southern portion of the Yukon makes one.

You guys have a lot more Francophones than we do, please don’t let me down. Also, does anyone know if any of the grocery stores sell cretons? I can’t get them here unless I make my own and they don’t taste right when I do.

Is the housing market slowing in the Yukon?

Can’t help but notice that some homes aren’t selling and prices are actually dropping - which I don’t remember seeing for years?

History made. 🏒🇨🇦 Whitehorse's Gavin McKenna has become just the second Indigenous player ever selected first overall in the NHL Draft, and the first in nearly 50 years.

From dominating the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers to starring at Penn State, McKenna's journey has inspired hockey fans across Canada. Drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs, his story is one of talent, determination and representation.

Moments like these are why public sports journalism matters. CBC Sports helps Canadians celebrate not just the biggest stars, but the stories behind them, connecting communities from Whitehorse to Toronto and inspiring the next generation of athletes.

Congratulations, Gavin. Canada is proud.

My route to attempt Mt Hoge in Yukon!

Going to attempt to climb Mt Hoge in August this year, while doing the donjek route. If anyone has any information on Hoge, or has done it before, any criticism or advice is appreciated! The route I mapped out here is what I think would be the best route, for my skill level, while avoiding the glaciers as much as possible, since we won’t be able to carry full crampons.

I have no intention of summiting unless it seems safe and in my comfort zone, but I’d like to try to make it up as far as possible :D

Pine Lake on weekends

Has anyone camped at Pine Lake on a weekend this summer? I know in previous years there have been all night parties on the beach that disturb the entire campground, which police do not respond to. Has this been a problem so far this summer? I have some nights booked there but am not keen to take my young kids if this is an ongoing issue.
