Planning a Trip to Whitehorse

Hello!

I am planning a trip to Yukon in October of 2027 - please help!

For some context:

- We will be coming before or after thanksgiving 2027. I am visiting my sister in Kelowna before that.
- I will be brining my 71 year old parents (will be 72 at time of travel) - it’s my dads dream to see parts of northern Canada prior to him no longer being able to travel, and he’s sadly been given about 2 years of travel left before he will be on dialysis full time. So this will likely be one of his, if not his last vacation/trip/travelling experience and I want to make sure it’s awesome.
- Due to my father’s condition, he is unable to walk for long periods of time, so the more accessible the activities the better.
- I’ll also be bringing my twins (and husband) who will be 18 months old at the time of the trip. Honestly, I plan to just strap them to me and take them wherever we go, but it must be child friendly.

Here is what I would like some help with:

- What is the best way to get to Whitehorse travelling from Kelowna (could also leave from Vancouver)
- Being October, what are some be aware of? What kind of clothing should we bring?
- What would be a good amount of time to be there for? Aka - how long should we stay?
- What should we do? I know he loves lakes, mountains, gondolas, and wildlife. He will want to see as much wildlife as possible.
- Is there a chance of seeing the northern lights?
- Where should we stay?
- What restaurants that are an absolute must?
- Is there anything in particular to avoid?
- Is there anything that isn’t too far of a drive (2-3hours at most) that are also a must see?

Thank you everyone in advance!! This trip is going to be a surprise for him, and we’re not planning to tell him until we are leaving for the trip. I can’t wait to make this so special for him.

Whitehorse, Yukon vs. Churchill Manitoba

I will be going to visit my sister for thanksgiving 2027. I used to go yearly early or late summer, but we have pushed our time of year we go to avoid wildfires.

With this being said, I’m looking to take my parents on a surprise trip next time we are out there - either to Whitehorse or Churchill.

Frequent Canadian travellers, what would you recommend? What is more economical and what would an elderly man enjoy more? Is it easy enough to drive up to the Yukon - knowing it will take sometime.

Additional info: we are from Ottawa, so adaptable to all weather. I will be brining my twins who will be 18 months old at the time of the trip. My father and mother will be 71. My dad has some health issues which will result in him having to stop travelling in 2-4 years.

What else to do?

Hey everyone! I’m new at sleep training!

I have twin girls who are 15 weeks old! We are planning to sleep train at 4-4.5 months. But, I’m a bit confused as to where to go from here.

From the time my husband went back to work when they were 4 weeks old (he works evenings) I’ve had to put the girls to bed myself. With this, I’ve never really helped them to sleep. I lay them down, and sometimes go in to offer a pacifier but other than that I let them fall asleep independently.

They go to bed at 7pm with their last feed being around 6:15om and I dream feed them between 9:30pm-10:30pm and they wake up hungry around 3:30-4:30am and we feed them. They sometimes wake up after that and can usually be put back to sleep with just a pacifier.

My question is, is dropping feeds part of sleep training? What would you suggest to stop feeding in the middle of the night? Should I stop offering pacifiers? All advice is welcome!

Metro - Jeanne D’arc Blvd - Orleans, ON - $17.94 - Deli Bag

$17.49 purchase price (was on a price surge) I feel like I hit the jackpot! $62 in value. Excuse the bottom one on the left - I got hungry on the way home 😂

Ready to feed formula versus powder formula

Today my three month old twins made the change from ready to feed formula to powder formula.

Immediately, I noticed that they are going longer between feeds and are sleeping very well during naps.

Is this normal? Do babies do better with powdered formula versus ready to feed?

Huckleberry Plus!

In short - is it worth it?

I’ve been using huckleberry for two weeks now and didn’t even realize I was on a free trial till today.

If I continue using huckleberry for free - what features will I still be able to use and which will be taken away?

In your opinion - is upgrading to huckleberry plus worth it?

My twins are 3 months old and I’ve been using it to track their sleep, diapers and eating. I wasn’t originally planning to track - but a nurse told me my twins weren’t gaining weight fast enough (now confirmed she was incorrect) - but I’m not an anxious mess about everything 🙃

All advice welcome!

How to stop swaddling!!!

Hello!

My girls are turning 3 months in a week, and I’d like to stop swaddling them to bed at night. Currently they are only swaddled for bedtime, which is from
7-7.

I have been trying to have them start sleeping with one arm out, but they are losing their minds.

Any advice on how to make this transition smoothly?

New huckleberry parent!!

I just started using huckleberry and my girls are about 3M. A question for all the pros - do I need to stop the sleep timer overnight when they feed? Truly they wake up between 3-4, we feed them and they go back to bed. It’s not like they have any wake time minus actually eating. All advice is appreciated!!
