Eating the calories we burn?
For someone who’s classified as obese in the UK, I’m actually a very active person. I recently ran my first marathon and did all the training that came with it, plus recovery activities like swimming, walking, etc. But the scale never really budged. I know you can build muscle through running, but I didn’t feel like it made a big difference to my face or body either.
Anyway, to the point…
I’ve started calorie counting to help manage my weight and shift some unwanted kilos. I’m currently eating 1,800 calories a day as instructed (update: confused people with this one, I used the NHS app and input my data to get this number), but I’m also burning around 400–600 calories through physical activity. Should I be eating those calories back too?
I want to do this in the most sustainable way possible, not as a “quick fix.” I’ve done that before and ended up putting all the weight back on, plus more, within a few months. Thank you in advance!
