Japan Winter 10 day trip

I’ve mostly decided that I AM going, but not 100% sure. I’m 19F and the trip will be taking place my during my second year of college.
My college is organizing this 10 day trip going around Kyoto and Tokyo. I’ve been studying the Japanese language for roughly 2-3 yrs and I’ve been wanting to go for as long as I remember. Part of me feels like I want to go to this trip because I know my family will never want to go, and also because im in community college, I’m not worried about finances right now.

The trip pays for the course, the attractions, travel insurance, transportation, hotel (with roommate) all breakfast and some lunches and dinners for roughly $3000, and a non refundable deposit for $300

We get roughly 2 days in tokyo to do whatever we want (which is very appealing to me! I just want to shop!)

The airfare we have to pay for ourselves, but kyoto airport (from california) is cheaper than the flight from tokyo back to CA I believe (specifically LA).

I talked to my Japanese teacher, she said some of the places in the itinerary are hard to get usually, so that’s an addition!
I’m going to psychology, I also heard it’ll look good for employment or careers, etc.

Additional costs are me getting my passport, lunch and dinner costs, hobby shops (I collect / shop and they have my DREAM shops, specifically one I’ve wanted to visit for 10+ years ) and souvenirs, everything rolls around to $5000~$5500(if I keep my personal spending budgets tight lol) and maybe even less if im able to get scholarship funds or FASFA.

but I would so much more like it if I went with friends and classmates and my teachers, especially to help navigate around, just worried about the price… my good friend is going so im also putting that into a factor.

thank you for reading!!! and i would appreciate your guys’ input.

Study Abroad Experiences

especially for people who went to the Japan abroad trips, how was it?
I want to know if the money is worth it! It does seem a little on the pricey side but im leaning towards the “I should do it” side
discussion for anyone who went on any of the smc study abroad trips lol
