Helped a friend's clothing page grow from around 900 to 10k followers but I'm not sure I was measuring the right thing
A friend of mine runs a small clothing page on Instagram and asked if I'd help out for a while. I've been trying to learn more about social media marketing anyway so I thought it would be a good chance to get some hands-on experience.
We spent about a month posting more consistently, trying different reel ideas, cleaning up the profile and generally being more active. The account went from roughly 900 followers to a little over 10k which honestly surprised both of us.
At first I thought the jump in followers meant we were doing everything right. But after the initial excitement wore off I realized customer inquiries hadn't increased nearly as much as I expected. Some posts were getting decent engagement too, so I wasn't really sure how to make sense of it.
Since then I've been reading more about how businesses measure marketing results and it's made me wonder if I was focusing on the wrong numbers from the start. Maybe follower growth is only part of the picture.
For those of you who manage business accounts, what do you pay the most attention to? Do you have a few metrics that tell you whether Instagram is actually helping the business or is it something you only figure out over a longer period?
