Is it ok to take a pay cut to switch careers? From corporate to non corporate. Advice needed.
I am facing this huge failure of myself when I got laid off from my corporate job and took a long break due to burn out and fatigue on my mental health.
I feel that now i am ready to go back to work and ease back into a life where it is less stressful that gives me meaning and purpose. The new job would be in a luxury hospitality group where I would get to create and curates ideas for various restaurants, hotels and wellness programs. something that my values are in tune to.
However, I've also just relocated back from SG to Malaysia and the salary disparity is stark. I hoped that I would have been in a better position in my career at my age (F37). Just having to start over again, and leave whatever life I had in the last 10 years is a slap in my reality.
I guess I would like some assurance on making this career decision. To start of a new chapter regardless of the money.
