We have two of these that we bought in January, 2006. These fans are amazing and we really love them.

Yesterday, I grabbed the remote to turn on the light and nothing happened. I checked the batteries and noticed that two of the batteries had leaked. They were not old batteries so I'm thinking that those two were just defective. I always change batteries when the indicator shows that they are low.

After taking the batteries out, cleaning the contacts, etc., the remote still will not show power. It seems the best advice is to find a universal remote...but which one?
