Can my fan be killing the receivers?

My Minka Aire F870l ceiling fan suddenly stopped working after 5 years. No lights, no spin, it seemed like it was not getting power at all. We have a wall mounted remote on the same switch as other lights as well as a traditional remote. We did what we could to identify the issue but in end we had to call an electrician. He tested everything including the wall and he told us that it was most likely a faulty receiver. We ordered it and it seemed like a fairly easy repair so I replaced it, tested it and the lights came on. I turned the power off so I could secure all the parts, put the fan blades back on, and then it didn’t work at all again ( yes I did turn the power back on) The wall switch has a little blue light on it that only seems to turn on when the fan is able to function, it turned on when I immediately replaced it, but now it’s off again. I’ve taken it all apart again and reconnected the receiver and I can’t get it to work no matter what.

Is there a way to see if the new receiver is broken? Can my fan be killing the receivers, and if so how can I check for that and fix it? I’d rather not spend another $120 on a part if it’ll only work for 5 minutes.

Replacing the light on a Hunter ceiling fan

This fan was installed by the previous homeowners. The light was already dim (I know Hunter has a reputation for that) but it’s gotten even dimmer over the years, so I want to finally replace it. I have no problem with the fan though, so I’d rather not go through the hassle of replacing the whole thing— just the light.

If anyone is familiar with this fan, I’d appreciate any suggestions for a better light replacement. I don’t know the model number unfortunately

Kitchen Remodel: Do I need a ceiling fan (and where would it go)?

We are redoing our townhouse kitchen, removing a peninsula and eat-in area to expand our cabinets and add a large island that connects to the dining room.

There used to be a fan/light combo over the eat-in area. Our new plan is to extend recessed lights over the cabinets and island, and put a chandelier over the dining table. I’ve included a layout drawing where the walls, island, and cabinets are to scale (doors and furniture are approximate). All existing lighting is marked, though one light will move inside a new corner pantry.

Note: Above the range will be a microwave. Adding hood ventilation isn't worth the pain in our townhouse, so it will just be the microwave fan.

I’ve always had a fan near where I cook for airflow, and we have no other fans on this floor. However, I know fans aren't common in modern kitchens/dining areas, so I’m struggling to reconcile what I want with what is actually practical.

Would you put a fan in at all? If so, where makes sense. Over the dining table, the island, or elsewhere? Any other lighting suggestions before we talk exact spacing with our contractor?

Any advice is welcome!

Need help identifying ceiling fan

I moved into this home about 4 years ago and this ceiling fan was here when I moved in. I have loved this ceiling fan since day 1. It moves air really well and it’s powerful. I have no idea what type of ceiling fan it is and hoping someone can help me maybe identify it? I want to buy one for my bedroom since it’s hotter upstairs during the summer. Any ideas on what brand this is? Yes I’m aware I need to clean the dust off. 😂 I also replaced the lightbulbs because the cover around the lightbulbs that were installed were falling off. So I took off the covers and put new bulbs in.

Reiker Energy Freedom One Ceiling Fan

We have two of these that we bought in January, 2006. These fans are amazing and we really love them.

Yesterday, I grabbed the remote to turn on the light and nothing happened. I checked the batteries and noticed that two of the batteries had leaked. They were not old batteries so I'm thinking that those two were just defective. I always change batteries when the indicator shows that they are low.

After taking the batteries out, cleaning the contacts, etc., the remote still will not show power. It seems the best advice is to find a universal remote...but which one?

Help remove 2nd floor hot air

Do yall think turning this fan to bring hot air down will actually help the second floor air circulation and cool it down more or maybe turning it to bring cool air up would be better?

Please feel free to suggest other alternatives!

The rhythmic clicking of my ceiling fan is slowly driving me insane.

Is there anything more soul-crushing than a ceiling fan that sounds like a tiny person is playing the castanets directly above your head at 2 AM?

It’s not even a loud bang—it’s this rhythmic, subtle click... click... click... that only starts once you’re actually drifting off. I’ve spent the last hour on a ladder like some budget NASA engineer, tightening screws that were already tight and balancing the blades with nickels and duct tape. I even stared at it for twenty minutes straight hoping it would feel intimidated. It didn’t.

At this point, I’m starting to suspect my house is officially haunted—and by a mischievous ghost, no less, one with a specific vendetta against my sleep. I’m seriously wondering if I should just give up the fight and save myself the trouble by simply going out and buying a pair of earplugs.

Ceiling fan suggestions - specs in body of post

Hello, I am looking for some ceiling fan recommendations. Here is what I am looking for:

  • Indoor
  • 44" - 52" diameter
  • No light and not designed for one
  • Wall switch only--I do not want a remote control receiver brick I have to try to stuff in the outlet box
  • Multi-speed
  • Reversible would be nice, but not a requirement
  • It would be great if the wall switch could be controlled by WiFi, but it's not a must have.

I have a Craftmade fan that died. The house was still under warranty, so the builder just brought a new one. It's one of those that has a huge remote control receiver brick and I can't get it, and all the wiring, stuffed back into the ceiling. When I took down the old fan, it looks like the installer had the same problem and just forced it all in. I want a ceiling fan that just wires in--no huge bricks. I'm fine if it can only be controlled by the wall switch. However, if the wall switch is WiFi enabled, that would be a bonus. Thanks in advance.

Hunter fan got a little spicy

No idea how this even happened, this is a hunter watt limiter model 99245x. Pulled it from a random hunter fan I got for free the other day. Could smell the burning from a mile away too. Be warned to check for a burning smell from your ceiling fan because I didn’t even notice this until I opened the light kit wiring box, and the light kit still fully worked even in this condition

Will fan in adjacent room make a difference?

My computer is in a small room adjacent to the bedroom, separated by a wall. There is currently a ceiling fan in the computer room, that needs to be replaced. However, I rarely use it when I'm actually in the same room. If I were to replace it with a 44 or 52 inch fan, would there be any noticeable cooling in the bedroom? My AC does a poor job of cooling the second floor but having a ceiling fan in the bedroom is not an option, as I have vertigo, and having a fan above me is problematic.
