Los Angeles Times Sports Corespondent, 1979

This impression is a work in progress. Most LA Times sports corespondents during the late 1970s and early 1980s wore a plain black or white shirt (usually made by Hanes) and a pair of cut, black cargo pants (I had to replace these with black cargo shorts). The standard issue equipment from 1969 to 1985 was a Sony TC-124 stereo field recorder, a F-99S stereo microphone, and a set of Pioneer SE-2P "Mimmy" earphones. The recorder, headphones, and microphone came from a retired journalist for the LA Times, who worked for them from 1977 to 1982. His original clothing had dry rotted. I still need a Dodger Stadium press hat and an Olivetti Valentine typewriter.

I'm surprised at the lack of civilian reenactors

As the title says, I'm surprised at the lack of civilian impressions. You'd expect more people to reenact historical civilian jobs, but it almost never shows up in the community. I regularly reenact the career of a late 1970s journalist for the Los Angeles Times (all my clothing and equipment actually came from an LAT journalist), but I it's the only civilian impression I've ever seen.

My best friends!

This really is an addictive hobby. I have 7 cameras, well over 1000 hours of footage, and four tripods.
