Pali High yearbook showing love for the Santa Monica Sears —our school away from school for almost a year after the fires.

You’ll note the spine’s ‘25 pointing to Sears, and ‘26 pointing to Pali, corresponding to the year at each campus. We’ll always be grateful for the way our neighboring city stepped up for our kids by offering the architecturally historic landmark 🩵💙🐬💙🩵

Then And Now: Former F&N/Sears Department Store at Southcenter Mall in WA State

Later Sears from 1994 to 2024, 5 years back in April 2021 they downsized to 2 functioning sales floors. This was the last location in the state of Washington to shut down on December 15th of 2024 and it was in terrible condition. As of the day of this post, the last Sears on the West Coast is at the Sun Valley Shopping Center in Concord, the last in California, one of 5 left in the United States of America.

F&N stands for Frederick and Nelson. Founded in 1890, 4 years after Sears was founded as R.W. Sears Watch Company and 2 years prior to the start of Sears Roebuck and Company, F&N was once a department store chain in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. They closed up shop in 1992. Meanwhile the Sears department store itself was originally located in Renton before 1993. This anchor itself was built in 1968 and location in the Southcenter Mall opened sometime in March 1994. Anyone have any grand opening pictures of this location, along with the Sears in the Spokane Valley Mall store that opened in 1997 and closed down on February 16th of 2020 ?

Sears at Stonebriar Center in Frisco Texas (Opened July 15 2000) 25 Years Ago Today (Closed January 6 2019 due to October 15 2018 bankruptcy)

Today marks exactly 25 years since this Sears department store at the Stonebriar Center in Frisco Texas opened its doors on July 15th of 2000! On October 15th of 2018 Sears Holdings filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and had since added 142 stores, including this one, to the list of locations that was slated to close on January 6th of 2019. As of this year it has since been slated to be turned into a Dick's House of Sport. There is still one Sears left in the state of Texas, at Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, the last one in the state and one of 8 to 7 to 6 and any month they could be 0. They also have a website Sears.com since the mid to late 1990s.

When And Why (And Where Did Your Local) Sears Get Rid Of Craftsman Lawn And Garden (L&G) ?

As this Wednesday marks exactly 99 years since Sears started the brand Craftsman on May 20th of 1927 I thought I would be sharing these pictures of what the Sears website's lawn and garden page looked like in the 2000's as well as the old pictures of various Sears locations from the 2010s decade: the first one in my home state of Washington, the last location in South Dakota that has since been slated to become a Dicks House of Sport, and some that made it through the 2018 bankruptcy and the 2020-2021 coronavirus (covid 19) outbreak / pandemic and closed in 2023 and 2024, as well as the 3 out of 5 that are still open to this day.

When and where did your local (and nearest) Sears store get rid of Lawn and Garden (L&G) and why did the retailer get rid of that site wide and in store ?
Mine did at the Southcenter Mall in Washington State sometime back in 2020-2021 due to the October 15 2018 bankruptcy

Sears appliance service = TERRIBLE. coupled with AHS, even worse..

I am not going to writ the whole story, my laptop keyboard would die b4 I finished.. Suffice to say, To fix an ice maker and the internal fan in an over, required me taking almost 9 days off from work. Could have bought a new reefer for what it cost to take those days off.. THREE of these days , after getting spammed to death by their bot for days before ehe appointment, they texted in the middle of the day and said, too bad, we cant get to you today, reschedule.. and back to square one.. NEVER again,, AHS sent them, that is a whole other disaster.. They are now cancelled. I will NEVER use either of them again.. If I have to say something nice about AHS, you can at least talk to a human, not possible with Sears.. Although these humans are not US based, and cant understand anything that is out of the norm, and you cant understand them either.. But it is a human of sorts...

Don’t walk, RUN away!

Sears Concord mall entrances

Here's a better view of how that part of Sunvalley Mall looks like. I think it should be quite clear that the top floor is the main floor and the one at ground level.

Then and Now: The Sears Store at Sunvalley Mall in Concord CA

I am continuing my journey to go to as many former Sears locations in California. Today I visited the Sears at Sunvalley Mall in Concord CA. This is my 22nd location of the year. This store is the last remaining store that is OPEN in California. Yes, I did buy something there. A trend that I have done at the Burbank location before they closed as well as the Whittier location before they closed. I even set up a Sears Rewards account even though it is of little use to me given that I live about 500 miles from the closest Sears.

Closed Sears location in Whittwood California

Pictures I took in a Sears a few years ago before it shut down permanently. The second and third floors were closed off, but I was able to explore them and get some pictures.
