My wife and I were going through some old clothes for donation. I found this hanger in the mix. I don’t recall ever buying a suit at Sears.
Nothing changed there but I thought I’d share some fun facts about it that you guys might find interesting.
You know how Primark occupies a floor at some other Sears locations? Well, I’ve been told they were interested in occupying the bottom floor in Concord as well some time ago but nothing happened of it. They were also open to the idea of only leasing some of the space to smaller tenants or even “something like a flea market” or for it to be used as literally anything but it was complete radio silence.
It’s clear the layout of the entrance down there with that corridor to the side of the mall isn’t very attractive to potential tenants.
Another deal for the Auto Center also fell through.
Sunvalley Mall also recently changed ownership and hiked rents which resulted in a handful of stores and kiosks closing or switch locations elsewhere in the building.
I don’t think we’ll be seeing any other business threatening Sears here.
Nothing new in Concord but recent numbers put El Paso now on top, Concord and Braintree roughly equal and the two Florida locations at the bottom. The plan to open up a third Florida pop up store in Fort Lauderdale fell through. Apparently due to issues getting it approved. They’ve also told me Transformco has become a lot more secretive towards them lately regarding what their plans are. Interpret that how you will.
Heard some chatter about pop up stores on this sub . Anyone know if the came to fruition at all or just rumors. If so what r the locations. Heard Tucson somewhere on this sub but didn't see any other reaffirming post.
There are two floors (lower and main). I haven’t researched yet but I presume it used to be 3 floors and the top floor was taken over by Primark. The first floor has basically all the merchandise, and is extremely clean and well stocked. Lower level is mostly just major appliances in boxes and the washrooms. Washrooms were extremely clean.
Down escalator worked, up did not. Elevator was also out of service.
Was happy to be in a Sears again, regardless!
It took over a year, but there has finally been some progress on construction at the Orlando Sears. The new elevator inside the has been installed on the opposite side of the store. It is barricaded and covered in paper behind a row of boxed appliances. The former escalator atrium is being closed up and eventually the old elevator will be removed. Hopefully the traps come down soon to reveal proper framed walls.
Sears on Coral Way opened its doors on October 27th of 1954. The store was expanded and remodeled in 1997. Here are some pictures of some newspaper articles and the construction of the store, as well as the pictures from 2001, 2017, 2018, 2023, 2024 and even some pictures of hands on showroom Kenmore Studio last year. This is the oldest Sears that is still in operation and the last full sized store on the East Coast as well as one of the oldest and longest lasting that are still in operation today. Sears has maintained a brick and mortar presence for 101 years in the United States of America, 97-98 of which in Miami and all of the state of Florida, well over 71 of which with this store, and the online presence Sears.com for approximately well over 27-30 years, followed by the launch of the Sears Virtual Store in 2024 and [Kenmore Studio] (https://realestateindustrynewswire.com/press-release/kenmore-debuts-first-of-its-kind-studio-in-coral-gables-with-interactive-home-appliance-experience-302518073-184790/) last year.

As for the Kmart nearby (1977 - present) in Kendall Lakes Plaza - it is just about the size of a Radio Shack now. It is the last one in the continental United States AND one of 3 left in the United States (the other 2 are in the USVI and Guam).

this store was 3 stories, opened along with the mall was a outdoor mall, opened in August 19, 1965, and also closed in July 14, 2010. Meaning it was the last store to close of Northwest Plaza.
Unlike the Kmart website which still has a banner stating "These Deals Won't Last Forever" on the home page as of December 2021 the Sears website is still getting new banners on the home page even today and there having a 4th of July sale (America's 250 Year Celebration)
Just set your money on fire and watch it burn. You will get more satisfaction than dealing with this fraudulent company.
There's an alarm going off in here 24/7. I'll spare you a glimpse of the toilets. The last two pics are bonus content of the main Sears building from June 15th. I don't know the specifics of what they were doing, but it did not appear urgent.

I’m stuck in Orlando for the month, so I figured I’d check out one of the Final Five Sears stores in existence. I didn’t take pictures because there are tons in this sub already, and it honestly took longer to park than how much time I spent in there. I was actually prepared and semi-excited to buy something from hardware, but I never even made it that far because I just felt an overwhelming need to leave.
Obviously, it was incredibly depressing for me. It really just looked like they’re keeping the doors open because Transformco says so and aren’t trying to actually make it a retail store whatsoever. I feel bad for the employees who are running out the clock - hopefully they’re being taken care of. The JC Penney (which I know is on its last legs) I walked through to get there was comparatively bustling and looked “normal” and fully stocked compared to this sad attempt at a retail store. Sears had refrigerators, washers/dryers, grills and large promotional signage at and outside of the mall entrance, blocking what was behind it all and making it almost impossible to see that there was an operational store behind it all. Most of the first floor was apparel with some indoor and outdoor appliances interspersed, which was strange. There was one outside entrance open near MPU, which was the most tucked-away of the three once-available options. Driving around the outside, it looked like they had removed a bunch of the auto center innards as there was fencing around it and a couple of roll-off dumpsters with a ton of garbage in them. Signs all around saying “we’re open!” And pointing to the MPU entrance. There were a handful of “shoppers” inside, but nobody actually buying anything. I didn’t even go upstairs, since all that was available to do so was an elevator down a weird walled-off-from-construction corridor. Literally less than five minutes inside. The rest of the mall was actually decently busy for a Thursday around 3pm.
I’ll choose to remember my second-to-last visit to a Sears back in the mid-2000s as what Sears actually was to me, which was a retail wonderland.

My mother has been being scammed by Sears Parts Direct for years. She ordered Brita filters through them once, and now every 6 months she is charged on her credit card. She receives no filters. She wants no filters. She’s cancelled the order multiple times, she’s talked to her bank and SPD multiple times, and the charges still keep coming though. Most recently her bank declined to refund the fraudulent charge so she is going to leave this bank (US Bank, go figure) unless they reverse their decision (unlikely). Has anyone had a similar experience with this website? I’m wondering if there is there any potential here for a class action lawsuit…certainly she’s not alone in this.
