I’ve had a 2015 Macbook Pro for 11 years. It runs like ass, it doesn’t get updates anymore and the battery is shit from a butt.
Decided to pull the trigger on a Neo. I have a beefy custom gaming PC that I can do all my large and intensive tasks on. So this being just a second laptop that I can use for small tasks on the couch and stuff is perfect for me.
Is there a way to use my old Mac as a NAS and stream music from it remotely to my iPhone?
My parents bought my daughter an iMac in 2020…has not been used much at all other than a little bit of online elementary school and some sims 4. She’s older now and would get much more use out of it but it’s SO SLOW…I don’t know much about any of this but will try anything to help it run more smooth! Explain like I’m 5. TIA!!!!!!!
My MacBook Air was updating, and now I get this message. When I click update I get the second message. I’m pretty clueless when it comes to fixing any tech. We went with a Mac for the “because they just work” stigma. Have had this for years with zero problems and would hate to have to replace it. Any ideas how to fix this?

After a little bit of research, I have come to the following laptops:
((Here is the catch though... Right now I am using my Samsung Galaxy S23 with DeX and it pretty much does everything I want. It has its limitations and it's tiring, so I can't keep on using this.
I argue with myself that I don't need such an expensive device if my mobile phone is kind of enough, so I tried to look on Windows budget laptops around 400€... Based on my previous Dell laptop back in 2016, I would want to buy another one like this, since it showed a lot of problems from the first month... Not to mention that after a year or two it started lagging a lot.))
The main use will be:
I want this laptop to hold in time, like at least 5+ years.
Will the RAM of Neo be enough? Will the storage of M4 be enough?
P.s. my GF uses a Macbook Pro (8/128) from 2017, and does the same stuffing want to do just fine. Maybe it is a little slow to respond, but it's much better than my Dell laptop in 2016.

I know a lot of people will say that, as an enthusiast, I should’ve bought a MacBook Pro instead. But I chose the Air because it’s cheaper, smaller, more portable, and honestly handles 99% of what I do.
For context, it’s a MacBook Air M5 10‑core CPU / 10‑core GPU 24GB RAM.
I’m thinking about doing the well-known thermal pad mod. From what I’ve seen, it’s basically just removing the bottom cover, placing the thermal pad, and closing it back up.
My question is: if the mod is done properly and, in the future, I remove everything and clean it carefully before using the warranty, is there any way Apple could tell that the laptop was opened or modified? Or would it be practically impossible to notice?
I’d especially like to hear from people who have actually dealt with Apple support or warranty service after doing this kind of mod.
I don't really know much about game development, but why aren't more games available on macOS, even though it poses such a largely untapped market, especially for multiplayer games.
Dumb me just updated the recent firmware on Mac, then right after I got a message that I can't use Jellyfin plugin because it's based on Intel plug in blah blah. I'm sure there is a fix for that. But...
That got me thinking, shouldn't there be a program that shows a list of your programs becoming unusable if you wish to proceed with updating. I'm sure that will save a lot of headache.
I noticed many people switching from Windows to Linux get frustrated when a habit from Windows does not work the same way in something that isn't Windows. Linux makes up many OSs but people think it's still just Windows with .exe files and the same file directories, among other things. This got me thinking, do people act the same way with MacOS? Do they open a MacBook for the first time and go "Why don't my exe files work here?". Do they get confused by having a dock instead of a panel? Do they actually adjust in a reasonable timeframe or do they usually need an experienced Mac user to guide them through the UI, file systems and apps for a long time? I remember hearing both Linux and MacOS are Unix influenced (and often called cousins).

My Mac mini connects to my monitor but then over time (30 min-1hr later) it’ll glitch then the display will go dark but the Mac mini is still connected bc the keyboard will make noise.
I use the Apple DVI to ADC adapter and I use a mini display port to USBC adapter to go into the Mac Mini
Any idea on how to fix this?
I keep getting random calls when I turned off all that crap and blocked incoming calls but for some stupid reason MacOS lets unknown people call you anyways.
I'm actually getting mad. I just want to delete this app, I don't use it and I never used it. I don't even make calls from a laptop because I'm a sane person and I use the phone for that.

The “N” key started getting stuck and was hard to press. Sometimes the press wouldn’t even register on my MacBook Pro M1.
I tried cleaning it with compressed air following Apple’s instructions, but it didn’t help. Then I found a video where they removed the keycap, but after putting it back on, it keeps getting stuck and doesn’t pop back up.
Could someone tell me if I broke the holder/mechanism that the key clips onto?

I can get an open box excellent condition (BestBuy) MacBook Pro 14” M4 Pro with 24gb of ram and 512 GB SSD for $1558 after tax or a MacBook Air 15” M5 with 24GB Ram and 512 GB SSD for $1443 after tax. Is the additional money worth it for the pro?
