Here's my current MacBook setup

Here's my current setup. I love my MacBook because I can take it anywhere and use it wherever I go!

Did the Siri keyboard shortcut just disappear in macOS 27 Golden Gate?

Used to activate "Type to Siri" by just double-tapping Command — worked fine on Tahoe. After updating to macOS 27 Golden Gate, that shortcut does nothing anymore.

Went digging through System Settings to figure out what happened:

  • Searched "siri" in Spotlight, got the usual results (Siri.app, Apple Intelligence & Siri, Siri accessibility settings, etc.) — but clicking any of them just opens System Settings to the General page and doesn't deep-link anywhere. Seems like a Spotlight deep-link bug in this build.
  • Had to navigate manually via the sidebar instead (System Settings → Siri), which does work.
  • On the main Siri page, there's no keyboard shortcut option visible anymore — just Requests, Language, Voice, Response, and the ChatGPT extension section.
  • Went into the "Requests" sub-page hoping the shortcut moved there, but it only has a toggle for "Hey Siri" voice activation. No keyboard shortcut setting at all.

So it looks like Apple removed the dedicated Siri keyboard shortcut setting entirely in Golden Gate, now that Siri AI lives inside Spotlight instead of having its own separate interface. My guess is the old double-Command shortcut got folded into whatever shortcut opens Spotlight (Cmd+Space by default), rather than being its own customizable binding.

Update: Found something else that's pretty odd. Clicking the trackpad seems to bring up either "Type to Siri" (text mode) or "Speak to Siri" (voice mode, red/purple gradient UI with active mic), and at first I thought it was tied to click depth — light tap vs. deep Force Click. But after testing it more, it seems totally inconsistent — a light tap will sometimes trigger voice mode and a deep click will sometimes trigger text mode, with no clear pattern I can find. Feels like it's just behaving randomly at this point.

This might be related to why my Logitech MX Master 4 breaks when clicking to activate Siri — it opens and then immediately closes, while the built-in trackpad at least activates something every time, even if which mode is unpredictable. My guess is there's some flaky gesture-detection logic under the hood that's misfiring across the board, and a mouse without pressure-sensing just exposes it more consistently as an open-then-cancel.

Anyone else run into either of these? Did your double-Command shortcut get remapped automatically, or did you have to reassign something manually? And if you're on a third-party mouse (Logitech or otherwise), is it behaving the same way for you? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.
