Need furever home

This is Beast. He is looking for a home he is 1/2 Cane Corso and 1/2 American Pit. He is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. He loves people! But He absolutely will not tolerate cats at all, he was living with his son, but they ended up fighting so we had to separate them. He is 6 years old. He absolutely loves people, and gets that pitbull smile when you love on him.

Edited for clarity -He is chained because his yard was being treated for fleas -He is being rehomed because his owner lost his wife, has to downsize, is selling his house and the new apt won't allow him, his daughters are devastated -He is an absolute dream, you want to meet him, we can set that up

Neighbors roof is collapsing and he won't fix it

Edit: The kids are gone now. I called their mother (I did not have her number) she picked them up this morning (she is NCP) and said she was going to file an emergency something with her attorney to get custody because of the condition of the house. So, the kids are out, if he wants to sit in it and let it fall in on his that's his problem.

So my neighbor has a roof leak. His home owners insurance paid to have it fixed 8 YEARS ago. He decided that a cruise to Costa Rica was a better idea. The roof has gotten so bad that I am genuinely worried (my husband is a roofer) it's going to collapse and kill everyone inside. He asked my husband to fix the leak 2 years ago, well he didn't have money for the materials (husband was not going to charge labor) so that didn't happen. He called last week about trying again. Husband went up, he literally could not physically get on the roof because the decking was completely washed out, He could see the wall studs and they are black and slimy, not sure how the hurricane ties are still clinging to them. The ridge is buckled and wavy, there is a hole large enough you could sit in it. Husband said no way, house is literally being held up by siding and prayers (it's a mobile home). Guy doesn't see the issue. What can I do? This house is going to collapse it's just a matter of time. The trusses are bad, the decking is gone, the shingles peel off in the wind. We found out about the leak because he contacted us about fixing his floor because it was washed out, the sheetrock is held up by the wallpaper. Is there something I can do? Someone who can make him see that this is extremely dangerous? If the house were inspected I'm 96% positive it would be condemned, husband said everything "inside" the hole was either gone or black. Location Texas

Edit: people keep saying leave it ignore it ect. But he has 3 kids inside one is not even 2 yet

Thermostat question

We have been having issues with our HVAC system cooling but not well, 4°-6° difference in return and intake. We have had 4 different techs out already, just background info.

I noticed that if I set my thermostat to 75° the unit will run at 76° and not seem to get down to 75°, so it's always running. But if I put my thermostat up to 78° the unit will get down to 79° and keep on running. Doesn't seem to matter what temp I set it at it always stays just above so the system is always running.

We replaced the thermostat, we checked the wiring, I'm at a loss here. Now this experiment happened at the same time of day I put it at 75° and waited 2 hours, The thermostat said 76°, put it at 78° unit shut off for about 45 minutes then stayed running at 79°.

I don't know if it matters but one was a smart thermostat and the other was not.

Me again

Original https://www.reddit.com/r/askHVAC/s/hK6gyzjsQd

Tech came out again with the owner. They bled some freon off the system, said it was the compressor. Problem is now the unit is not cooling at all. Is this because he bled the system? Is it just because the compressor is going out? On the brighter side, he did 4 hours on Thursday and 1 with his boss on Friday and they did not charge me.

Edited to add it's a 3 ton unit. Outdoor temp was close to 100°

Techs notes When I arrived home was reading 92 degrees. Cycled system on and started to diagnose. Checked temp split and we were getting 13. Went outside and checked pressures and amps. Amps were in range. Pressures were really off. 190/388 with sh of 3. Looked at coil, was able to see some of the duct work with a video. After reviewing my readings. We assumed system may be over charge based on pressures. Went ahead and took some refrigerant out. Got sh to 16. My split got a little better. System shut down after a couple hours. Asked home owners if it had been doing that. They said yes. Thermostat needs to be replaced. Left system running and temp was at 89 when I left.

Returned with **** and we gauged up. We found super heat that I left at 16 yesterday. Is now back down to 5 sh. We washed coil and performed other tests. In conclusion we see that compressor is bleeding refrigerant internally. This means the valves are going bad. We recommend replacing compressor. We will get a price and send estimate.

They did not wash the coil. I am not sure why he said they did

Cat won't leave bedroom

I spend a lot of time in my bedroom. I have a cat door so my cats can come and go as they please. Friday my 6y altered male was meowing at me every time I stood up, or walked past him while he lounged on the bed. He is usually only vocal when he is hungry. So I went into the kitchen and opened his wet food and put it down for him. He doesn't come running like usual. I think okay maybe he was not hungry. The other 2 cats are eating i go about my day. About 3 hours later I was walking out of my room and he was following me meowing I opened the door, he got to the threshold stopped and backed up like someone was chasing him, fell over and ran under the bed. I coax him out, he won't go near the door. I picked him up and carried him into the living room he laid his ears back and dug his claws in. I set him on the floor and he flew back into the bedroom under the bed. I am like WTF the girls have no issues bouncing between the rooms. I leave him alone, whatever has scared him, I am not trying to traumatize him. Friday night he still won't leave the room still meowing, then it hits me he hasn't eaten since Thursday afternoon that I am 100% positive about. I grab his food bring it into the bedroom and he eats like he's starving. But he still won't leave the bedroom. He won't even get close to the door. I thought maybe he got stuck or hurt by the door, but he had no issues running through it to get out of the living room. Saturday he still won't go into the living room. The only thing that has happened was I had a HVAC tech over on Thursday and Friday. No issues with him. Thursday evening Coconut sniffed the tech while he was checking a vent in the kitchen, then decided the tech wasn't worthy of his attention and proceeded to ignore him. He sat on the floor about 2 feet from him eating while the tech did his job, no issues. Any ideas on how I can help him? Or what could have possibly of happened? We have 3 cats total and the two girls are not afraid, so it had to be something specific to him.

He has a litter box and water in the bathroom connected to the bed room.

HVAC not cooling

6 days ago I posted about my system not cooling.

https://www.reddit.com/r/askHVAC/s/tjXevRUv9O

Tech finally made it out. Said system is mechanically sound. He checked the dryer, the Freon, the air flow, the capacitor and contactor, the piston and compressor. Everything was within normal range. He has no idea what the problem is. He is still here after 3 hours trying to figure this out. Any suggestions?

Gifted pyrex

Want to start by saying I am not a pyrex collector. My neighbor has to move into a rehab facility for the foreseeable future (he's in his 80's fell broke his leg) his daughter is cleaning out the house to sell. We used to do his yard maintenance 3x a week until the fall. His daughter stopped over with a really big box of stuff and asked if we wanted anything. I found the dishes. Just wondering if they have much value. I figure if they are worth more than a few bucks, we can buy him something for his room at the facility.

Question about a flush mount

I have a flush mount fan. I need to attach a down rod. Is that possible? I know there are convertible fans available, but has anyone tried this or have advice? It doesn't have to be a down rod specifically, I just need it to hang about 8 inches. The problem is it's a cathedral ceiling with a 2/12 pitch (so about 9.5° angle), and the fan has to be hung level.

I posted a few days ago about my HVAC unit not working very well (y'all are great!) got a tech out, he only had time to "take a look", said that the TXV was swapped for a piston, and we need to swap it back, said we need to replace that and the airdryer outside. Does that sound right?

R410A system not cooling

I have an IPC r410a system that holds just over 4lbs of refrigerant. It is not cooling very well (about 3° difference in ambient and vent temps). It was making a buzzing noise randomly, the contactor was arcing, we replaced it and the capacitor. We had a leak last year that was repaired. The filters are clean, the coils inside and out are clean, I don't know enough about the HVAC to know if it's low in R410A. Can someone give me some ideas about what I need to check next?

Showering while homeless

I see a lot of homeless posts here unfortunately, and a lot of you give really great advice. A lot of people suggest getting a gym membership for the showers, which I think is a really good idea if you can afford it. But for people who don't have gyms close by, or can't consistently get the money together monthly for that another option is Loves Travel Stops. Their showers come clean, with soap and towels. Also Ask a Trucker: A common strategy among road travelers is to politely ask a truck driver at the fuel island if they have any spare "shower credits". Truckers who fuel up frequently receive these credits for free and often have more than they can use. And I'm sure other travel centers have showers I just know of Loves personally and they are in just about every smallish town in America.

I don't know a lot about Mini figures or Legos in general. But we found these in a box in the trash along with about 50lbs of loose bricks (that was a lot of legos!!) we are still sorting them out. Can anyone tell me anything about them?
