I went after I had my RS for about 6 months and had Autocrossed it many times. So the Autox part was the highlight, found the one with the “best” tire and fully sent it. I moved on from the RS in 2021, but it’s always been a favorite.
At almost 5000 miles, figured I would do a quick review.
Best daily I’ve ever owned. (BRZ, FocusRS, 718S three priors). If the FocusRS was a 7 at everything , the R is a solid 8.5.
Biggest complaint by far is the sensitivity of the emergency braking. / gotten wiplash a few times for the car braking for no reason(car in front was clearing )
Second complaint is the location of the R “button” on the wheel. I’ve been in the middle of a couple of Autocross runs and the drive mode changes cause my palm rotates over.
Third is the quality (or lack of) the sound system. Listening to pandora it was flip from it sounds like it’s dropping the subwoofer.
And it’s not a complaint per se but this car is completely invisible to regular people; where I got thumbs up and “nice car” all the time with the prior three.. this one is just a basic gray VW.
