Four Tarot Cards short of a complete collection from a single Master Diver Kit

Four Tarot Cards short of a complete collection from a single Master Diver Kit

Just a "Mildly Interesting" pull post for the first Neuroscape product I opened (Master Diver Kit). Missing just 4 Tarot cards out of 20:

  • The Chariot
  • The Lovers
  • The Magician
  • The Tower

Not sure if this super common or not at all, but thought it was interesting and kinda cool. Brother and I figured we'd try making some decks with the Diver Sets, and I wanted to run Mystic deck anyways. But the number of characters I got was only 6 though, along with 3 environments and some other programs. Ended up with a Aethernet Mainframe and some hacker cards so probably try to run something like that.

I hope the "QOL" (bug fixes) update works.

Played to hang out with a friend again, and yeah, went about as expected. Thanks to that photo deciding I needed a 2nd picture of a Crucifix, and that the ghost was irrelevant, along with the audio not capturing sounds, twice, got to die trying for a perfect, and reap nothing from 20 minutes of waiting for this ghost to appear. Also got to die to smudge not working, again, and friend got to get dropped twice; once for looking at the truck cam, and another time for just daring to exist, so that's cool.

Hated to be a downer but I just had to tell my friends I just have lost all desire to play Phasmo at this point and need to find something else, and we'll revisit when the issues are actually fixed... which I hope will be this month, but I also have a feeling if I banked my life on that patch to fix enough, I'd be the 30th ghost.

Head Canon: (Some) Beta Defect Cards = "Beta" Defect Learning

Not sure if it's been talked about before, but Shadow Shield is a beloved Beta Defect card showing a tiny Defect conjuring an Shadow Orb and creating a shield. The "Official" art shows an "adult" Defect using Shadow Shield with mastery. Likewise, we see a similar progression with Helix Drill and Voltaic, and arguably Synchronize to feed into the idea of the defect learning these abilities.

I do not know much more lore than what's in the Timeline, but I'm guessing "baby Defect" is not a thing otherwise hinted at, and unlikely Canon considering machines don't physically grow.

But I like the idea that the Defect once was a small assistant to the Architect or other being at one point. But it was not very good at assisting. It was a curious wondering and wandering bot, learned to conjure power via orbs and take inspiration from tools to adapt in whatever way needed. Abandoned, lost, or otherwise, the Defect found the need to rebuild itself little by little, eventually becoming the looming and terrifying machine the Defect can be.

What do you all think of a backstory like that for the Defect? What theories do you like (even if you do no think they are correct)?
