Denon x1700h doesn't change from stereo to surround automatically

Hey all. I just got my first surround setup. I find that I have to constantly change between surround mode and 2ch stereo manually when going from movies with surround to like music on YouTube. Is this normal?

Using denon x1700h

Google streamer

I think I read it's because the denon can't determine the audio format from the Google streamer because it's not bitstream? What is everyone using for bitstream?

Hey all, I just got a new runtru system installed.

I have two questions,

  1. with the thermostat off, or even pulled from the wall, there is suction in the return grate, enough to hold the filter to the grate (grate is in ceiling). When I turn the breaker off for air handler the suction stops And filter drops out (if I don't have the grille on).

Is there supposed to always be a slow suction from the fan/air handler? Part of me thinks it's constantly running and something is latched on the fan. But it's so "slow" compared to running speed that I feel like it has to be an intended function to circulate air. Otherwise wouldn't it be the same single stage speed as when it's running?

  1. what's everyone thoughts on tranes enhanced mode for their air handlers. The fan curve that runs at 80% then 50% and then ramps up to 100% if needed. Does anyone know what triggers it to go to 100%? Just if the set point isn't met in a certain amount of time?

Hey all, wondering if any of these would be a big upgrade for me.

Currently running

Denon x1700h

Rsl cg3m for front

Rsl speedwoofer mk ii 10" for sub

This sounds pretty good to me but I'm itching to try a center and surrounds. So want a new LCR setup and go move the rsl to the rear.

The rsl sound decent but, they do seem to distort for me around 90hz, so I had to cross them at 120 to be able to play them as loud as I wanted

I am trying to focus on movies and music, my music taste is hip hop/rap.

What do you think of the options above in my used market?

When looking at equipment, if the price is around the same, do towers always beat bookshelf's? Do they have more volume in the cabinet and allow the speakers to be tuned better?
