Friend groups in 20s-30s?

Hey all,

I'm pretty new to the city, arrived from the UK a few weeks ago to work in one of the new international schools. Honestly, been struggling to make friends here and missing the social life I had back in Europe. Does anyone (male, female, gay, straight, whatever) have any tips on meeting people/events/want to hang out one weekend? I'm not into the bar girl side of things but I do enjoy drinking and hanging out. Early 30s extrovert and dying of boredom!

Feeling lonely in new school

I left my old school due to a number of factors, although I can say hand on heart that I had the best school-based friendship group I could've hoped for.

I'm now in my new role and I cannot click with any of my new colleagues no matter how hard I try. At all of my previous schools, it was pretty easy for me to make friends, but here I just seem to be on a different mindset/stage of life/vibe than my new colleagues. For an extrovert like me, it all feels really unexpected.

Has anyone had any experience with this? My new city doesn't have much of an expat scene, and I don't play any sport (I dislike it) so joining sports teams isn't really my thing.

I'm feeling really low and down. It's been a week at work already and I'm quite depressed.

20s-40s expats in Pattaya?

Hi everyone,

I just moved to Pattaya (teaching in one of the international schools in the area) and was wondering if there are many other people living here working full time/here long-term?

Im in my early 30s, male and from the UK. I work full-time. Part of the LGBT+ community. I've lived in several countries already, and this is my first time living in Asia. I enjoy reading, working out, eating good food, and going to bars.

If anyone else is in the same or similar boat to me, then please feel free to send me a PM and perhaps we can meet up for a coffee or lunch and explore the city together 😄

Arrived in Thailand and hate it

Has this ever happened with anyone else here? If so, did you eventually like it? This isn't my first international position, but it is my first living outside of Europe.

I am feeling totally out of place. The food doesn't agree with me. I feel like I will never integrate into the society. You can't walk anywhere as the pavements are all ruined. I tried to go for a walk last night to explore the nightlife area and ended up being grabbed and poked by sex workers, I felt so uncomfortable and just wanted to run back to the apartment I'm renting.

Someone please tell me it gets better....!?

Edit: Sorry if I sound ungrateful. I haven't started work yet so have no friends here, and feeling just very overwhelmed and far, far away from everyone I know.
